I didn’t decorate the front porch this year as much as I usually do. Last year as soon as I decorated we started getting a lot of wind at night and I was having to gather everything and put it back on the porch every day, a couple times a day. I decided I didn’t want to redecorate every day so this year’s Welcome Home Christmas Porch is welcoming but not overly decorated.

Most of us have lots of left over ball ornaments after decorating the Christmas tree so I thought I would share other ways I’m Decorating with Ornaments. If you don’t have extra money to spend on Christmas decorations using ornaments is an inexpensive way to bring more Christmas into your home. These pretty, shiny, colorful, glittery, reflective decorations add sparkle to your home without breaking the bank.

Thrifty Christmas Decorating

by leanneja on December 9, 2016 · 0 comments

in Christmas, Decorating, Holidays

I love decorating for Christmas but I don’t have unlimited funds to be able to purchase new decorations every year. Even if I did I don’t know if I would want too. Can you imagine storing all those decorations? I rotate decor around my home throughout the year, so it makes sense that I would use a lot of the things I already have to decorate for Christmas also. Here are some Thrifty Christmas Decorating ideas using things you probably already have. They’re a great place to start to highlight your Christmas decorations.

Small Space Gallery Wall

by leanneja on December 5, 2016 · 0 comments

in Decorating

Since my daughter left for college we have been moving the house around to make it fit better with our new circumstances. As you may remember, I had to convert my craft room into a craft room/guest room and because of that I lost a lot of storage space. I’ve been looking for a cabinet to fit at the top of the stairs to hold some of my decorating pieces. Of course I had to create a Small Space Gallery Wall above it. I love the impact of the space as you come up the stairs. My family is really the only ones who see it, but I think it’s important to decorate your spaces for yourself whether they will be seen by others or not.

Scrabble Tile Christmas Tree

by leanneja on November 30, 2016 · 0 comments

in Christmas, Crafts, Decorating

Since sharing my 31 Days of Christmas Ideas in October I had a little bit of Christmas burn out (posting everyday for 31 days is exhausting). I took a little time away from crafting and posting about Christmas, but now I’m back again. This time of year I couldn’t stay away too long. This is another one of those projects where I had everything in my crafting stash so I didn’t have to spend a penny. Those are my favorite kind of projects. You probably have everything you need to make this Scrabble Tile Christmas Tree too, if you don’t have any scrabble tiles you can order just the wood tiles (there’s a link in the supply list).

I love decorating my mantel year round but Christmas is my favorite time. There are so many different styles, colors, and themes that can be used to reflect your personality and decorating style at Christmas. I change my theme and colors every year and enjoy creating a feeling for the season. I chose to create a Merry Woodland Christmas Mantel this year to remind my family of Christmases past and remember to slow down, reflect, and enjoy the spirit of the season.

Fresh Cranberry Salsa

by leanneja on November 23, 2016 · 1 comment

in Recipes

One of my favorite Fall and Winter foods is cranberries. I can’t even think of a Thanksgiving or Christmas celebration without them. This Fresh Cranberry Salsa is one of my favorite recipes. I’ve been making it for years and I always wonder why I don’t make it more often. There’s just something about the tartness of the cranberries mixed with a little kick of pepper heat and I’m in salsa heaven. If you love salsa you need to make this, just don’t eat too much before dinner (or eat it for dinner if you like). I won’t tell. Isn’t it so pretty too?

I love this season! I know we try to spread joy and serve others throughout the year but I feel it is amplified this time of year. I feel as bloggers we are a tight knit community and feel the need to serve each other, our readers, and those around us. A group of us would like to Spread Joy this Holiday Season by offering a giveaway of $400 cash to one of you. We know every little bit of cash can help during the holidays and wanted to offer you the chance to win. We are also donating $175 to Toys for Tots. Entry is easy – continue to the bottom of the post to enter.
