Small Space Gallery Wall

Since my daughter left for college we have been moving the house around to make it fit better with our new circumstances. As you may remember, I had to convert my craft room into a craft room/guest room and because of that I lost a lot of storage space. I’ve been looking for a cabinet to fit at the top of the stairs to hold some of my decorating pieces. Of course I had to create a Small Space Gallery Wall above it. I love the impact of the space as you come up the stairs. My family is really the only ones who see it, but I think it’s important to decorate your spaces for yourself whether they will be seen by others or not.

Merry Woodland Christmas Mantel

I love decorating my mantel year round but Christmas is my favorite time. There are so many different styles, colors, and themes that can be used to reflect your personality and decorating style at Christmas. I change my theme and colors every year and enjoy creating a feeling for the season. I chose to create a Merry Woodland Christmas Mantel this year to remind my family of Christmases past and remember to slow down, reflect, and enjoy the spirit of the season.

Fresh Cranberry Salsa

One of my favorite Fall and Winter foods is cranberries. I can’t even think of a Thanksgiving or Christmas celebration without them. This Fresh Cranberry Salsa is one of my favorite recipes. I’ve been making it for years and I always wonder why I don’t make it more often. There’s just something about the tartness of the cranberries mixed with a little kick of pepper heat and I’m in salsa heaven. If you love salsa you need to make this, just don’t eat too much before dinner (or eat it for dinner if you like). I won’t tell. Isn’t it so pretty too?

Snowman Pencil Toppers

Most kids like to give little gifts to their friends for Christmas, but it can get expensive so we like to make a little gift and give a little treat with it. These Snowman Pencil Toppers are fun for the kids to make and give to their friends. They would also be a fun craft project for the classroom to make.

Easy Framed Feather

You know me, I’m back at it again trying to update a room by using things I already have and maybe a little paint and creativity. This Easy Framed Feather is the newest addition to the craft/guest room. It’s been a challenge fitting everything in and making it functional but I only have a few more things to do and I’ll be ready to share the whole room. I’ve been using things I already have and just updating them to make the space feel new and hopefully inviting while it also serves as my functional craft room. Having an extra room would be awesome, but for now this will have to work.

Best Gift Ideas for Day Hikers

If you follow me on Instagram you know I have taken up hiking this past year. I am fortunate to live only 5 miles from a National Park and am able to take advantage of it’s beauty often. I try to hike 3 times a week all year long and have learned a few things about what to carry and how to be prepared. I’m also frugal, so this list of Best Gift Ideas for Day Hikers is full of reasonably priced items making it easy for you to purchase one or more for the hiker in your life.

Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels

I found this recipe in the November/December Midwest Living magazine about 6 years ago and knew my family would love it. I was right. They devoured it and I’ve made these Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels every Christmas since then. If you like sweet and salty tastes together, these pretzels are perfect for you.

Christmas Sled

How many of you are like me and have a few (or more) unfinished Christmas projects? I have this sled I bought 7 years ago that I am embarrassed to say has remained unfinished up to this point. I would even display it unfinished on the porch with other sleds around it. So, one of my ideas in this series is to finish an unfinished project, but I’ll also share an easy way to finish and display a wood sled. This Christmas Sled took less than an hour to finish, so stop procrastinating and find a project to finish or buy a sled and finish a new one.
