Hanging Hearts Make-Over

February 9th, 2010

I don’t have a lot of Valentine’s Day decorations, but I have this hanging wire heart thingy I’ve had for years. It was time for a make-over.

Martha Stewart felt flowers to the rescue. I copied Martha’s flowers to put on the newly painted hearts. First sew a running stitch through 5 petals making a line. Tie knots on the end so they don’t pull through.

Start pulling on the thread to gather the petals, forming a flower. Tie the ends together, in a knot, on the back of the flower.

Glue a button, rhinestone or brad in the center of the flower.

I spray painted the hanging hearts heirloom white and then hot glued the felt flowers on.

That’s much better. I might add more flowers later.

Wouldn’t they look so cute on a headband or a hairclip? Maybe I’ll do that next.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

This question is unrelated to this post, but back when you did the beadboard on your ceiling in your mudroom, did you use the beadboard sheets or did you use individual beadboard planks? Thanks!

Did you make the hearts hanger from a wire clothes hanger? It looks so sweet. Love it and wonder whether I could recreate that?
