Emilee’s “I Spy” Bag

January 25th, 2010

Emilee made an “I Spy” bag last week at Activity Days. Her cute leaders helped her and her friends make these  fun bags. She learned to use a sewing machine and did such a great job, she wanted me to share the “I Spy” bag with you. Here’s the cutie with the bag.

The finished bag measures 9″x9″. The clear plastic center measures5 1/2″x5 1/2″ finished. The trim around all four sides measures 1 3/4″x1 3/4″ finished. Cut each piece about 1/2″ larger to compensate for stitching them together. Here’s the back side, so you can see the fun material she chose.

Stitch all the material together. Leave one side partially open so you can add the birdseed and toys for the game. After everything’s in the bag, stitch the rest of it up. Attach the “I Spy” list to the bag, with a ribbon stitched to the side of the bag, while you’re stitching up that side.

Here’s a list of the items they included in their bags. Even if you’re not little this can be a fun game. This would help so much in Church or anywhere you need to keep the kids quiet. For kids who can’t read, you could take a picture of each item and put them on a ring attached to the bag.

She did such a great job. I think she might be passing me by in her sewing skills.

I just found your blog from a link about your “lost socks” board. I love it! Such great ideas…couldn’t resist entering a giveaway. I have to girls that would love those headbands (and me too!) I would say cranberry and cream. :)

I Spy bags are SO much fun! This summer while the kids and I were up in Mackinaw City on vacation, we found large cylinder containers made for I Spy. The workers had found all but 1 thing, and they were convinced it didn’t exist. I tried, but didn’t find it.
