I’m excited to be participating in the 31 Days challenge again this year. This will be my 4th year participating and it has been a great way for me to challenge myself to post everyday. Due to some time restrictions this year I have decided to make it a little easier on myself and chose 31 Days of 15 Minute Craft Projects as my series. I know a lot of you are the same as me and don’t have hours a day to spend crafting, but I hope we can find at least 15 minutes to use our creativity.
I adore large porches, but unfortunately I have a very small porch. Don’t worry though, that’s not going to stop me from decorating it, especially for the upcoming holidays. I’m going to share How to Decorate a Small Front Porch for Fall in this post, but these ideas will also work for any season or holiday.
I am so excited for Fall! Partly because of the change of weather, but also because of Halloween and Thanksgiving. My home feels so comfortable and cozy in Fall and as much as I love cool colors I can’t help but follow nature’s lead and be drawn to warm colors for a few months. There are so many wonderful memories associated with Fall and spending time with family. I can’t wait to create more memories this year.
I hope you love Fall as much as I do. I created these Fall Wreath Printables for you to print out and enjoy during the next few months.
I’m loving the weather lately. It’s even starting to feel a bit like Fall in the desert. I don’t know how long it will last but I’m enjoying it while it’s here. I wanted to put up a Fall Mantel before I displayed all the fun Halloween decor but I wasn’t quite ready for pumpkins so I can up with something a little different. The Hello Fall Mantel is fall-ish without being too obvious. Umm, other than the Hello Fall sign! (wink)
Can I be honest? I don’t really love the color orange unless it’s associated with Halloween. My favorite Halloween colors are black, white, and silver but I also love the traditional orange and black when decorating for my favorite upcoming holiday. I think my kids (and hubby since it’s his favorite color) would be really sad if there wasn’t the color orange throughout the house in October, so I decided to make the Halloween Printables orange and black to bring a little more color to my white and black color scheme.
I have a Senior in High School this year which means she will be heading off to college before I know it. This year is going to be all about enjoying her last year of high school while also preparing for college. With already having kids in college I know how small dorm rooms are and how much stuff kids want to take with them, so I am researching and preparing now so she has plenty of storage and her room stays as neat and organized as possible. Here are some Dorm Room Organizing Essentials I will make sure she has with her as she heads off to college. Don’t forget to also add these organizing items to your list.
Throughout Summer I have been slacking in certain areas of my life, planning ahead being one of them (it’s been a pretty casual and relaxing Summer). I realized the day before school started that I didn’t have a prop for the kids to hold for the first day of school photos. For shame! Luckily I had 3 clipboards and some chalkboard paint in my craft room so I crafted up some quick and easy Chalkboard Clipboard Signs. They were perfect for the back to school photos and wait until you see what else I did with them.
How cute are these tissue boxes?! It’s hard to come up with a unique teacher gift for the beginning of the school year so I like to purchase useful items for the classroom from the teacher’s wish list. There never seems to be enough tissues or hand sanitizer when a classroom full of kids are involved, so I came up with something cute and useful when I made these Chalkboard Tissue Boxes. What’s more fun and predictable than more chalkboard surfaces in a classroom? All teachers like chalkboards, right? Okay, some of you might be over the whole chalkboard craze but I’m not and I’m hoping our teachers aren’t either.
After a full Summer of throwing towels on the ground, lawn chairs, and outdoor tables I wanted to make a towel rack for this Summer. Yes, I realize Summer is almost over but we have at least another 6-8 weeks of swimming where I live so I still wanted one for this year. I was on my way to the hardware store for the supplies when I took a quick stop at Home Goods and found a small clothes rack on clearance for $7. I couldn’t make it for that price so I took the easy way out and made a few simple changes to turn the clothes rack into a Pool Towel Rack.
The kids are going back to school in a week so I thought I’d decorate the house a little to help celebrate their return. Actually I’ll take any excuse to decorate the mantel again. You’ll never be able to accuse me of having a boring or un-decorated mantel. It’s one of my favorite things to change with the seasons, holidays or special events. I didn’t purchase anything for the School Mantel, I just grabbed things from around the house that were school related.
