The second half of the school year is usually the hardest for my kids, going back to school after break can be hard. They’re really excited at the beginning of the school year and are really good about doing homework and getting chores done that are related to school, but that seems to change the second half of the year. I decided it would be fun to Decorate a Pillow Using Fabric Markers to remind them of their school related chores and give them a little fun motivation. The reminders are right in their face since it’s on the pillowcase, so hopefully no more excuses.
I thought I should share my Winter decor with you before it was time to share my Valentine’s Day decorations. I didn’t decorate much for Winter this year but I brought out a few things. It was also a good time to go through the decorations I haven’t used for a couple of years and donate them. A little decluttering hint: go through holiday and seasonal decor as the holiday approaches and donate the things you haven’t used in a couple of years.
This Pom Pom and Felt Ball Garland is perfect for the Winter Mantel. It had been so long since I had made a yarn pom pom, it took me back to my tween years. Only then I would make it the old fashioned way. I love that there is a tool now, it makes it so much quicker and easier.
It seems like I’m always waiting until the last minute to think of a cute Valentine card/gift for kids in the classroom. If you’re like me, this post is for you. I have 20 Printable Valentines for the Classroom that I gathered from some of my favorite creative bloggers. The best part is free printables are offered with every idea. Just print it out and attach the tag to the Valentine gift. There are candy and non-candy Valentine ideas so you can pick your or your child’s favorite to give to their classmates. Since Valentine’s Day is almost a month away you have plenty of time to find the treat you want to be able to make one of these Valentines.

I’ve been trying to show you my Christmas Porch for over a week now but the wind has been so bad that I’ve had to redo it at least 5 times. The wind died down for a few hours yesterday so I was able to snap a few pictures to share with you. That’s the one thing about living in Las Vegas, we don’t get snow very often but we do get crazy wind in the Winter. Which is not always great for decorated porches!
I’m happy to finally bring you my Christmas in Red and Black Home Tour. Wow, it’s been a busy few weeks and I feel like going out of town for Thanksgiving threw me off for about a week. Since hubby is gone most of the month of December I wanted to get the Christmas decorations up early so he could enjoy them. I got about half of them up before he had to leave so at least he was able to enjoy some of them. I love the way my home feels this time of year so please join me for a small tour, I hope you enjoy it.
When I think of the holiday season I can’t help but think of all the memories we have created as a family. I hope that each year brings more and more memories for my children to cherish. No presents ever compare to the time we spend together as a family creating new traditions and special memories. Even though my kids are getting older they still look forward to Christmas in anticipation of what the holiday will bring. One of our favorite things to create is a countdown to the big day. Every year has been a little different, sometimes it has included special ornaments, sometimes there have been little treats, and this year the kids are more than happy that it includes chocolate. This year we created a Hershey’s Kisses Christmas Countdown in the shape of a tree.
I love changing and decorating my mantel at least once a month, usually with each new holiday or season, sometimes just because I’m bored of it. So, of course I chose to share my Red and Black Christmas Wonder Mantel with you today. It’s a bit non-traditional and very glittery which makes it perfect for me. I’m so pleased with how it turned out and I hope you will be able to get a little inspiration from it.
It seems like all of our neighbor and friend gifts include food during the holiday season. But really what’s more fun than crafting with food or receiving food as a gift? I have to remind the kids and even sometimes myself that we can sample what’s left over once the project is finished. I was so excited to find out that Target stores are exclusively carrying Hershey’s Kisses Santa Hat Chocolates. They are adorable! They look like a Santa Hat and the plume even says ho, ho, ho. I knew exactly what I wanted to make with them. These HERSHEY’S KISSES Santa Hat Candy Jars are a fun friend or classmate gift.
