Gold and Green St. Patrick’s Day Mantel

A new holiday is coming up so that means I get to play around with a new mantel design. If my next house doesn’t have a mantel it’s the first thing I’m going to build. I’m thinking of building one to put in my bedroom anyway. Decorating 2 mantels for every holiday or season would be even more awesome plus I’m thinking even a faux mantel would bring a bit more coziness to my bedroom. For right now I’ll just share my Gold and Green St. Patrick’s Day Mantel.

The Best DIY Multi Functional Furniture

I have always thought Multi Functional Furniture was important when organizing and decorating a home, but going from a larger home to a smaller home has made me realize it even more. I’m much more selective while choosing furniture by making sure most of it has at least 2 functions. Sometimes it’s hard to find exactly what you need so I have gathered some of my favorite DIY Multi Functional Furniture pieces for this post. Make sure to visit each blog for a full tutorial.

Glitter and Gold Valentine’s Day Mantel

Can I just say I haven’t really been feeling Valentine’s Day this year. My kids are older so they don’t share Valentines at school anymore and hubby’s not here so I’ve just been slow to warm up to the holiday. Then at the end of last week I got the bug and decided to decorate a little, so I created this Glitter and Gold Valentine’s Day Mantel.

Easy to Make Chop Stick Wraps

Celebrating Chinese New Year has become a tradition in our family. Our youngest son started taking Mandarin Chinese in kindergarten where he was also taught about the culture and traditions throughout the years. He now takes private lessons and his teacher makes it a priority to teach him as much as she can about her culture. I’m sharing some Easy to Make Chop Stick Wraps today that can be used for Chinese New Year or anytime you’re serving Chinese food.

Hanging Wood Heart

Target had some awesome Valentine’s Day items a few weeks ago so I bought this Hanging Wood Heart. I wish I would’ve bought 2 more to put on my other old window panes. I love that it looks like slats without the work, my kind of craft with all the short cuts I can get. This is so simple but it looks so glamorous. The glitter numbers make a huge difference.

2016 Craft Room Tour

Welcome to my 2016 Craft Room Tour! I’m so happy you’re here. I love looking into homes and seeing how other people live and what is special to them. Homes should tell a story of the person who lives there. I hope my home tells the story of my family. I know my craft room tells a story of what I love to do. Because we’re renting and are small on space I hope you will like the room, but also be able to get some thrifty and space saving ideas to incorporate into your own space.

Decorate a Pillow Using Fabric Markers

The second half of the school year is usually the hardest for my kids, going back to school after break can be hard. They’re really excited at the beginning of the school year and are really good about doing homework and getting chores done that are related to school, but that seems to change the second half of the year. I decided it would be fun to Decorate a Pillow Using Fabric Markers to remind them of their school related chores and give them a little fun motivation. The reminders are right in their face since it’s on the pillowcase, so hopefully no more excuses.

Pom Pom and Felt Ball Garland (Winter Mantel)

I thought I should share my Winter decor with you before it was time to share my Valentine’s Day decorations. I didn’t decorate much for Winter this year but I brought out a few things. It was also a good time to go through the decorations I haven’t used for a couple of years and donate them. A little decluttering hint: go through holiday and seasonal decor as the holiday approaches and donate the things you haven’t used in a couple of years.

This Pom Pom and Felt Ball Garland is perfect for the Winter Mantel. It had been so long since I had made a yarn pom pom, it took me back to my tween years. Only then I would make it the old fashioned way. I love that there is a tool now, it makes it so much quicker and easier.
