I noticed that I’ve created and shared several Dollar Store Crafts over the years. I’m sharing some of my favorites here and thought it would be fun to create more to share over the next few months. Keep an eye out for those new projects coming. Dollar Tree costs have gone up to $1.25 but most items are still cheaper there. Just compare prices and purchase wherever the items are least expensive.
10 Dollar Store Crafts
Sometimes you can create inexpensive things that look expensive using dollar store items. There’s a certain satisfaction knowing you’ve saved money but have created something you want or need. Research things you would love to have and see if you can recreate them using dollar store items. Be creative and save money at the same time.
Rock Trivet – This rock trivet is one of my favorite kitchen additions. Not only is it super functional but it also looks great sitting on the counter. This is a good way to add warmth and natural elements to a usually stark and sterile area. And of course it’s used several times a day.
Chalkboard Ombre Coasters – Since I have a glass outdoor table I’ve found that I like to also use coasters outside as well as inside. These chalkboard coasters are so cute and can be personalized for each visitor. Just wipe them clean and they’re ready for the next guest.
Twine Wrapped Vases – Dollar Tree has many glass vases in different shapes and sizes. Pick your favorites and wrap the whole vase in twine or just wrap sections of it for a more modern look. These twine wrapped vases work in many different home decorating styles and they’re easy to make. Make a few so you have them on hand for beautiful faux or fresh flower arrangements.
Tic Tac Toe Game – Check the arts and crafts area for these little shadow boxes. They make great tic tac toe games. Use rocks, little animals, small ornaments, large buttons or any small seasonal supplies for the tic tac toe pieces. It makes a fun gift too.
Paper Plate Basket – Take giving baked goods up a level by making paper plate baskets to hold the goodies. It’s a fun and easy project that doesn’t take much time. Add a ribbon and tag to make it even more special.
Rock Photo Holders – Use the large rocks you find at Dollar Tree or find rocks in your yard to make these cute rock photo holders. They’re a great idea for kids to make for themselves or give as gifts. Don’t forget to print out and attach their favorite pictures.
St. Patrick’s Day Rainbow Candy Jars – It’s fun to give little treats for smaller holidays so I like to come up with inexpensive ideas for gift giving. You can use any size jar you want to make the rainbow candy jars. Check the candy section at Dollar Tree for the supplies you need.
Cone Shaped Christmas Trees – These cone shaped trees are a perfect addition to your Christmas decor or to display for the Winter season. Choose wrapping paper that fits your home decor or holiday decorating. You can even change the paper each year or as often as you like. Vary the tree heights by grouping them together and displaying some on candlesticks.
Dollar Tree Speckled Eggs – Here’s another great use for the small shadow boxes. These speckled eggs are such a cute kitchen display for Spring or Easter. You can also make a couple for gift giving.
Pool Noodle Boats – Not only are these pool noodle boats fun to make but they offer hours of fun play time. You can get many boats out of just one noodle. Have boat races outside or you can even play with them in the bathtub or sink.
