Giraffe Ring Dish

It never fails that I get all ready for the night and hop into bed then realize I still have my rings and earrings on. Sometimes I even still have a bobby pin or two in my hair. I’m too cozy in bed to get back out but I hate just sitting things on my bedside table for fear they might fall off. It seems like I’m always making things out of necessity, but I guess that isn’t a bad thing. I kinda like whimsical things too, so this Giraffe Ring Dish is a pretty perfect solution.

We spent a few days last week at my daughter’s house in California. It was the perfect place to spend Spring Break. Even though it was full of fun and busy days we took some time to plan an Easter dinner and brunch. I decided to make 2 pies. One was a banana cream pie because it’s everyone’s favorite and I decided the other one needed to be gluten free so I could eat it. Since I love tart, I made a Lemon Meringue Pie. Don’t worry I didn’t get to eat the whole pie, everyone else loved it too.

Floral Spring Mantel

Easter is over so it’s time for me to change up my mantel again. It’s my favorite thing to decorate in my house. This is definitely not my favorite mantel I’ve ever had but I was happy that I at least had one to decorate when we moved here.  I love that it’s a place I can change things as often as I want to celebrate the seasons or holidays. I tend to get restless in my decorating so my mantel gives me the perfect outlet.

Easter Sign

Do you make a new wreath for each holiday and season? It might just be another excuse to craft but I love making signs and wreaths that are a little unique and with Easter fast approaching I wanted to do something centered around that holiday. This rustic wood frame is the perfect backdrop for a creative new wreath or sign. Think of different materials you can use to make it uniquely yours.

Green and White Easter Mantel

It’s about time I’m sharing my Easter mantel. I’m feeling so behind this year. I can’t believe Easter is only a week away. I guess the Easter bunny needs to go shopping soon or the kids aren’t going to have anything Easter morning. Anyway, I’m super excited to have my mantel done. It’s simple but I really love it! There’s just something about green and white that appeals to me. It feels clean and fresh and uncluttered.

Decorative Wood Spheres

There are so many trends I really love and I love updating my home often but I can’t justify spending money on the new trends especially when we’re on a tight budget. If you really like something there’s usually a way you can make a similar item without spending a lot of money. I love the spheres or orbs I was seeing in the catalogs coming to my door but knew I would never be able to buy them, so I made my own. These Decorative Wood Spheres were a very small fraction of the cost of the original ones and I love how they turned out. Another great thing about making you own knock-offs is you can change the color or tweak the design any way you like to make it fit with your home design and decor.

3 Ingredient Chocolate Pots

Let me start by proclaiming my love of chocolate. Believe it or not, I actually went 2 years without having one little bit of chocolate pass my lips. I might try that again some day, but not today because these 3 Ingredient Chocolate Pots are so delicious and decadent that I can’t resist. Don’t worry that each serving is only 1/2 cup, that’s more than plenty to give you a rich delicious chocolate fix.

Spring Mantel Decorating Ideas

I love changing my mantel with the holidays and with the seasons. It’s a way of bringing something fresh to my home without having to change all of the decor. Since the mantel is a focal point it’s something that is really noticeable when it’s changed. Guests will notice your new mantel decor so they won’t even notice you haven’t changed anything else in your house for the last year. Just kidding, kinda! I’m sharing with you some of my favorite Spring Mantel Decorating Ideas to help you with ideas for your own mantel. The images are pretty self explanatory so I’m just going to share some ideas about each decorated mantel.

Gluten Free Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Hubby’s favorite cookies are Oatmeal Raisin. When we were dating my mom would make them for him regularly. She really liked him which was good because my dad had to learn to like him. It took a few years for him to come around. Everything is fine now but you know how a dad can be with his daughter, no one is good enough. At least until he has proven himself. Anyway, back to the cookies. I decided to take my mom’s recipe and make it gluten free so I could enjoy them too. The texture of these gluten free Oatmeal Raisin cookies are a little different but they turned out close to the original. Since we both really love raisins I added more but you can adjust to your taste if you don’t love them as much as we do, or substitute chocolate chips for the raisins because I have been known to do that too.
