My kids always loved Thanksgiving Day growing up. Some years we were with extended family and some years we were on our own. Even though the kids could usually find something to do, I liked to add a little more structure to the day. Now that we have grandkids I like to have fun activities to keep them entertained and make the day even more special. I’m sharing some Thanksgiving Day Ideas for Kids that will keep them entertained and busy while you make the final preparations for dinner and give you a little time to relax afterwards. Of course, if you have time you can play along.
I love making decorations for holidays and seasons that can be interchanged, so I came up with this simple Shadow Box Forest for Christmas and Winter. It’s a great project to ease yourself into using power tools.
We love hot cocoa in our family! The first thing the kids and grandkids ask for when we come home from a Winter or Fall outing is a big cup of warm cocoa. And I have to admit that I have a cup of cocoa almost every night in the cooler months. I’ve been envious of all those beautiful hot cocoa stations popping up all over blogland, but I needed a Hot Cocoa Bar that we could easily use everyday. It also had to be convenient for the kids to make their own.
I took an unexpected leave for a few weeks because we didn’t have internet at our new house. We’re up and running now so I thought I’d share some easy place cards for the upcoming holidays. Let me know if you make any of these. I’d love to see your creative take on them.
Make these quick and easy stamped place cards for Thanksgiving or any holiday celebration.
Since October is sneaking up on us I’ve gathered 13 of my favorite Halloween Kids Crafts. They’re for all different ages and abilities so pick the ones that will best fit your kids or grand kids interests. Confession time: I love Halloween crafts more than any other holiday, even Christmas. I think you’ll love these projects especially because most of them require very little supplies.

It’s still in the 90s where I live but as soon as school starts my thoughts turn to Fall. There really isn’t much of a weather change in the desert, but I remember my childhood in Indiana and that’s when Fall became my favorite season. Fall in Indiana is amazing! I can still smell the crisp air and feel the leaves crunching beneath my feet. We lived in a subdivision but our backyard backed up against a farm and I loved harvest time, mostly because I knew Halloween was fast approaching, but also because it was fun to play in the freshly plowed field.
