Have you always wanted to get organized but didn’t feel you could set aside time to really do it right? I taught Organizing Classes many years ago and promised some followers I would share my best organizing ideas and information in a few blog posts. I’m breaking the series into 6 different blog posts so it will be easier to read and not the length of a short novel. The series will run over the next few weeks and will be called Easy Everyday Organizing. Easy Everyday Organizing Series
Today we’re going to start with a question.
Everybody’s reason for wanting to become organized is different. You need to discover your reason before you will make it a priority in your home and life. So let’s explore. What is your reason?
*Do you want to spend more time with your family?
*Do you want to save money by knowing what you already have?
*Do you want to have more space in your home?
*Do you want time for other activities and hobbies?
*Do you want less stress in your day?
*Do you want to be more productive?
*Do you want to get rid of your storage unit?
Once you know your reason or reasons for wanting to be organized it’s easy to devise an organization vision which will hopefully help you stay motivated. For instance, if your reason is to spend more time with your family your statement could sound something like: Being organized allows me to spend guilt free time with my family doing activities we enjoy because I know my home is in order.
Sounds pretty simple, right? Getting there can be a little bit of a process but so worth it. Don’t get discouraged! It took you time to get to a disorganized state and it’s going to take a bit of time to get to the level of organization you want. Good news though! Once you get there maintenance is rather simple.
In this series we’re going to talk about how you can incorporate organization into your personal lifestyle, how it can become part of your daily life, and how you don’t have to forfeit your decorating style for organization.
I’m often asked what room you should start with. My answer is always to start with the room where you feel the most stressed. If you cringe every time you walk in the family room then that’s where you should start. If it’s the kitchen or your bedroom, start in that room. Once you get that space to where you feel comfortable, you’ll have the motivation you need to continue throughout the rest of your home. Plus if you need to take an organizing break you’ll have at least one room organized. One room that isn’t causing you stress anymore.
Your Homework: Discover your reason or reasons for wanting to become organized and write a statement to help keep you motivated. You can write it on a sticky note or put it in your phone so you see it often.

I agree – my whole mind feels cluttered when there is clutter and chaos around me. I operate so much better when things are in order. If they aren’t, I kind of obsess over things. I am always always looking for ways to calm my clutter and my mind! Excited to follow along with this series.
Like the others, my mind is cluttered and I have such anxiety all the time. I really need to declutter and organize. Just so overwelmed I dont know where to start. Help
