This table runner is the base of my holiday decoration. I still have a lot of things to add to it, but I wanted to share my decorating process as I went along.
I used these supplies to make the table runner: white linen fabric, burlap, ribbon and trims, and jingle bells. I started by cutting the table runner to size and finished it by stitching along the edges.
The burlap pieces weren’t long enough to cover the width of the runner so I cut the pieces in half. To cut a straight line on burlap just pull out one of the strands and cut along that line. You can see where I pulled out one of the strands in this picture.
Then I stitched 2 of them together to form a long piece.
To gather the burlap gently pull on one of the strands and space the gathers as you go.
Then I pinned the pieces to the runner and sewed them in place. I have to admit this was my first time sewing burlap and I can’t say it was the easiest material I’ve ever sewn. Not perfect, but not bad either. I like the contrast of the white linen and the rough burlap.
I used fabric glue to adhere the ribbon to the runner. I cut the ribbon pieces in half and used them on both sides.
There were 10 jingle bells in the box so I stitched 5 on each end of the table runner.
I love the glitter ribbon and don’t worry there will be lots more glitter on this project. I think the IZZE team loves glitter as much as I do. That’s just the base of my crafting challenge project. I can’t wait to show you the rest.
This table runner turned out so well! I love the little bells on it (i’m such a sucker for bells!). Good luck!
