Sunday- I was released from 2nd Counselor in the Young Women’s a couple weeks ago. I’ve had a hard time. I really miss being in Young Women especially with my 2 girls. The Young Women made the old Presidency a going-a-way present. These cute flowers in a vase were given to each of us. I had a hard time not crying my eyes out.
Monday- We had a full Labor Day. Hubby took the kids to the driving range and putting greens while I got a few projects done and made food for the barbeque. Ammon said, “I’m really happy today…I found Mouse Moose, I jumped on the trampoline, I played with golf clubs, now I’m eating lunch.” I love how the simplest things make him so happy. Whitney, Ty and Maddux came over for a barbeque. Then we played frisbee, jumped on the trampoline, played on the swingset and ate yummy cookies. Whitney made the cookies. I’m not sure I want the recipe, I’m sure I would gain 10 pounds in a week from making and eating them everyday.
Tuesday- Today is the first day in 26 years that I’ve had the house to myself all day. The girls started school a few weeks ago and the boys went back on track today. I’m alone, so what do I do? Nothing glamorous. In the morning, I blogged, loaded the dishwasher, took a shower, did some laundry and cleaned the kitchen just in time for Amanda and her friends to come home for lunch. Then in the afternoon, I dusted and vacuumed the main level of the house, went to the post office, wrote some thank you notes and did some decorating. I also sang some songs while I was cleaning and slid on the wood floors in my sock feet. Shhhh…don’t tell my kids.
Wednesday- Today and tomorrow is the Box Top Store at school. We have it a couple times a year. The kids bring in all their Box Tops to buy trinkets, toys or candy from the store. I work at it every time I can. It’s fun to see what the kids decide to buy. This is what Ammon decided to buy with his (because I wasn’t there to help him).
Thursday- It’s Fall! The mountains are starting to look more and more like this everyday. The clouds have been sitting on them more and they’re just starting to turn. Soon they’ll look brown, orange, red and yellow. I love Fall!
Friday- Ammon had eaten all the candy out of this little container and said he needed to recycle it. This is what he came up with. Perfect, don’t you think?
Saturday- Patriot Day! Just writing this, I’m getting teary. I can’t help but think of all those lives that were lost and those that were left behind, who loved them dearly. I can’t imagine the fear and the bravery of many of those who lost their lives on this day, 9 years ago. I remember trying to explain to my kids what had just happened, as I was trying to get them off to school. Trying to expain to them something I didn’t even understand and then staying glued to the TV for most of the day. I pray we will remember the unity we had as a country and continue to stive for that. I’m thankful for this beautiful country I live in and for the opportunities that are afforded me here. I proudly display the flag of my country and honor it everyday. I hope and pray we never forget.
Beautiful flowers! it’s sad being released from callings… I’m sorry.
Love your weekly wrap ups. And I completely agree with all of your sentiments regarding 9/11. I hope we never forget.
