Peek Through Last Week (July 10-17)

Peek Through Last Week is going to be bits of our Utah Temple Tour this week. We’ve had a wonderful week visiting the Temples and exploring Utah, but we are also happy to be heading home today. We started out last Sunday in Vernal. You can check out that post here.

We started out Tuesday morning going to the Logan Temple. It was cloudy and rained a little. We visited a few antique stores and Amanda got a free camera and lens from a guy in the store. We’re not sure if it works yet.

The Logan Temple was closed but Zach decided to see if he could slide through the gate.

We were lucky enough to be going by the Brigham City Temple while they were placing Angel Moroni on the top. What an awesome sight.

The Bountiful Temple is one of my favorites.

We walked around the grounds then we sat and relaxed by the pool for a while.

The Ogden Temple is being renovated and won’t be completed until 2014. Since it was my least favorite design, I’m excited to see the new design.

This was our first time seeing the Draper Temple. We were able to walk around the grounds a while.

Amanda and I went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house, but no one else in the family had been there yet.

The Jordan River Temple is one of only 5 temples where Angel Moroni is holding the gold plates.

Hubby and I and all of our married kids were married in the Salt Lake Temple. It’s my favorite.

We visited the Visitors Center too. This is my favorite room.

The boys are relaxing by one of the fountains on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Whitney and Maddux were also able to join us in Salt Lake.

After visiting so many Temples in one day we decided to head to the Gateway, look around a bit, and relax by the fountain. The boys got a little more wet than I wanted them too.

We’ve been wanting to hike to Timpanogos Cave so we decided now would be a good time while we were visiting the temples down there.

I think this was about half way through the hike up. It was pretty warm and we drank a whole bottle of water.

Inside the cave was awesome and it was about 30 degrees cooler.

Emilee in the cave. It took us about 3 hours to hike up and down the mountain and walk through the cave.

Mount Timpanogos Temple. We were all so tired we could hardly walk to the temple.

Provo Temple.

I love the grounds of the Manti Temple. I hadn’t been down there for so long and the younger kids had never been there.

While we were relaxing on the grounds, Ammon was cracking himself up.

I love the Southern Utah scenery.

The Monticello Temple. It’s about 6-7 hours from our home.

Twin rocks on the way from Monticello to St. George.

Colorado River by Glen Canyon Dam. We hiked around a bit and took more pictures. I love Lake Powell.

We finally made it to St. George and took a driving break by swimming.

It was a lot warmer here than any other place we had visited. It was hard to get out of the pool but we were starving.

The St. George Temple is so white and beautiful. We also visited the visitors center.

We went on a tour of Brigham Young’s Summer home and visited the Tabernacle.

This is how hot it was in St. George according to my van. We stopped at Chris and Emily’s in Cedar City on our way home. Emily fixed us hubby’s favorite dinner (I love it too). It was so fun to see Parker and Ella again.

That’s it! Our tour is over and we had a wonderful time being together as a family and seeing all the temples. It was just what we needed at this time.

I hope you all had a wonderful week! Now I’m ready to get back to projects and get busy painting. Hopefully I’ll have a lot of projects to show you this week.

When I was YW President, we took our girls on a temple trip from Logan to Manti and then watched the pageant. It was awesome and everyone loved it. (Now there would be 3 more temples to visit.) What a great experience for your family. I would have loved to have seen you in Logan. We live about 1 mile from the temple.
