I try to go through my kitchen cabinets twice a year. In real life it’s hard to stop everything and organize for 2 weeks, so I work on organizing small areas at a time. I chose to work on these 4 drawers and an upper cabinet during this session.
The junk drawer first. Here’s the before. Not too bad, but always room for improvement.
Here’s the after. I added some more plastic baskets to contain things better.
And I was able to get rid of a few things. The CD is going in the CD box upstairs, the pictures go in the Summer file, and the door stops go in the supply tote in the basement.
All of these items are going in the garbage.
I didn’t have to do anything to this drawer. Yay!
The 3rd drawer holds placemats, runners, and table cloths. It’s a little empty right now because some were in the washer and a friend borrowed a few.
And the bottom drawer needed quite a bit of help. I had a lot of things in there I hadn’t used for over a year. So why am I keeping them? I’m not! Here’s the before.
And here’s the after. Once I got rid of a few things, I was able to put a few things in there that actually belonged there.
Here’s what I’m getting rid of. I really don’t need (nor want) that many salt and pepper shakers.
Here’s the things I’m getting rid of from the upper cabinet.
And here it is now. Rarely used items are on the upper shelf. I have to use a stool to get to them.
That’s a total of 27 items removed from the kitchen, a total of 152 household items in 9 days. You don’t need big blocks of time to declutter, just the desire and a little will power.
he-he 🙂 I like those salt and pepper shakers 🙂 They could be used not as shakers but decorations on holidays….
152 items in 9 day are many lol
When I decluttered my balcony(1mx3m)(I live in the flat) I put in the trash around 6 big plastic bags :):):)
Thank you for the pics!
Maybe I could pay you to come to my house! Just kidding, unless you would really do it.. lol. My craft room and closet have been on my list of decluttering for way too long. It’s a good idea and more encouraging to take it a little at a time. I love the baskets in the drawers too, it looks so much neater.
I have been decluttering and purging also. I just redid my pantry, so much better. It feels good to get rid of stuff doesn’t it.
check out my pantry makeover, I would love to get your opinion. I did it with minimal expense because who has money to spend this time of year?
Wow! It didn’t look bad to begin with, but now it looks even better. I’m going to have to pick some drawers to tackle. For instance, I don’t use placemats or tableclothes so why do I have so many?
