My desk is in my bedroom. Not the ideal place to work or blog, but it’s where I have the space. Because it’s a small space, I need to keep it organized and also have the things close that I use daily. I also have a small storage shelf to the side of it holding essentials I use daily or weekly.
I usually declutter my desk area every few months just to make sure I’m using the items in this space and they’re really necessary. The desk drawer holds a lot of colored pens because I like to color coordinate things. It also holds a Ward/Neighborhood phone list, family calendar, calculator, ruler and scissors.
I love the slots in my desk and how I have quick access to things.
This side of the desk holds household bills, sticky note messages to myself, and business cards and contacts.
The drawer on the left holds some office supplies. Yep, my tape is missing again. The boys are always taking it to make inventions.
The drawer on the right holds box tops for the boys to take to school and shop at the school store. There’s not many in there right now because they just went shopping.
My printer sits on top of the small shelf at the side of the desk.
The next shelf holds my calendars and some storage boxes. Do you want to see in the storage boxes?
Small things seem to get broken in my house a lot. My kids will not hear of something not being able to be fixed. I need to have things all together so when I have a few extra minutes I whip out the super glue and go to town fixing everything. Looks like the time for that is long overdue. I guess I’ll be super gluing while I watch TV tonight.
The next shelf holds books I need to help my kids advance at church and more storage boxes.
The first storage box holds cards I’ve made or my friends made at card club. You never know when you might need a quick card.
The next storage box holds things I need to help my kids at school (flash cards, money, clocks and wrap-ups).
On the very bottom is my file basket. I’ve shared my files with you before here.
Everything’s right at my fingertips and organized where I use it. You might not need some of these things in your desk area. Store what you need there, but declutter regularly so it doesn’t get out of hand.
I am on a decluttering/organizing kick. So, there’s lots more to come.
wow, it looks great! Nice and organized!
I swear you’re in my brain. I was arguing with myself about organizing the office today — to do it/not to do it. Thanks for the jumpstart.

Oh MY!!! THAT is a very beautiful sight! I want to come sit at your desk and just breathe in its organization. 🙂 You wouldn’t mind, would you?! I want an organized desk–just like yours!
Great inspiration. Thanks!
I spent a whole morning last month de-cluttering and organising our family office. My daughter was so happy when she saw it that she gave me a big hug! I on the other hand was not pleased the next day to find that she and her brothers had resumed their paper plane/ origami /doodling collection on the newly cleared desk!
I so need to declutter and get a few things re-organized around here. Thanks for the inspiration!!
On you file folders, if you place the tabs all in the same spot (all left or all middle or all right) it is much more efficient. Your eyes don’t have to go back and forth but just up and down in one directin.
I love those drawer dividers! When I did that to the junk drawers it was LIFE CHANGING!! Ok, well maybe not quite life changing, but it was a good change. I love that part about the tape. One year Santa put tape in the kids’ stockings. They love it that much.
Thanks for linking up to Home and Family Friday!
