New Mantel Scape

Hubby and I are back from a wonderful 8 day trip. I have tons of laundry to do, dusting, cleaning, vacuuming, end of school things, dishes, etc. And what do I do? Play with things to make a new mantel scape. Doesn’t that sound way more fun than all the other things I should be doing? Yeah, I thought so too.

I miss Hawaii already and it’s finally getting warm here so it was time to change the mantel again. I needed to lighten things up around here. I know I need to paint the walls a lighter color, but the mantel is faster and easier and I like instant gratification. I’ll worry about the walls later. I kept the window in place over the fireplace then added the wreath that was previously hanging in the Entry.

The little gate came from the Entry too. I love the chippy green paint and the little bit of rust.

The sign was also left on the mantel from the previous scape. The sea star came from the main level bathroom.

The colored glass bottles came from various places throughout the house.

I am so drawn to colored glass bottles or any bottles that vary in shape and size. The bird stayed on the mantel from the previous scape also.

It’s lighter and airier now. More fitting for a Summer mantel.

So now that I’ve changed the mantel by borrowing things from other rooms, you know what that means. I have empty spaces I need to fill in other rooms. Time for some more rearranging.

I think it turned out pretty great. The only thing I bought was this shell ball, while we were in Hawaii. I love it!

I’ll be sharing the other changes in a couple days.

Have a Beautiful Weekend!

Wow! I am most impressed that you went to Hawaii and only bought 1 thing. How in the world did you do that? The mantelscape looks great.

I love it all. I love your shell ball too. I have thought about going to the beach and making something similar. I know I will be sorry if I don;t some day.

    Hawaii sounds dreamy.

If you have any projects to post to the DIY Club inc contest you should do it. You need to use one of the sponsor products-Gorilla Glue, DISChangers or DecoArt.
