I’m so far behind, I’ll just post 2 weeks at one time and call it good. Okay? Here we go.
Sunday- This is my Sunday bag. I keep everything packed in it I’ll need for church. There’s extra paper for the kids to write or draw on, Young Women lessons and handouts, scriptures, calendar, hymn book and clipboard. I keep it stored in the mudroom. See the blue tape? I still haven’t painted the mudroom.
Monday- Yeah, it’s May 24th and it snowed. What? It snowed quite a bit in the mountains and we got a skiff of it in our yard. I am so happy to be leaving for Hawaii tomorrow. It should never snow in May, but it is beautiful.
Tuesday- We’re off to Hawaii! Yay! Hubby and I are going away for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. I can’t say that I’m looking forward to the 6 hour flight but I can’t wait to start our vacation together. Just give me Dramimine and let me sleep. Beautiful blue skies.
Wednesday- Ah, beautiful Hawaii! Today we hiked to Manoa Falls. It’s a beautiful hike through a rainforest. The ground was pretty wet along the whole trail and slippery in parts. The parking attendant gave us walking sticks before the hike and I’m so glad he did. We used them a lot on the way down. I think I took over 100 pictures on just this one hike. We stayed at the falls for a while and just enjoyed the view.
Thursday- The Polynesian Cultural Center was so fun and the shows were great. The canoe pageant was the first thing we watched. There were all the islands represented and they danced traditional dances as the canoes were rowed around the canal. Then we went to each island area and were taught about the customs and culture of the island. The luau was so fun. The food and entertainment were great. After the luau was an awesome show, HA: the breathe of life. Don’t miss the Polynesian Cultural Center if you get to Oahu.
Friday- I knew I was going parasailing as soon as we decided to go to Hawaii. I’ve been wanting to parasail for years. It was beautiful and sunny the whole time we were there, except for the day we went parasailing. We were so excited though, we didn’t care. Can you see the overcast sky, dark clouds and rain coming down? It was raining the whole time and then started pouring as soon as hubby and I lifted off. Great fun, but next time I would love to do it in the sun.
Saturday- The temple is beautiful. It’s been closed for about 18 months for renovations. I wish we could have gone in but it was great just to be there and be able to take some pictures. We went in the Visitors Center, looked around and watched 2 movies. One was a movie about families and the other one was about the history of Oahu and the Temple. We walked around the grounds too. A beautiful Temple and grounds.
Sunday- We are at the top of Diamond Head. The hike starts out pretty easy but gets progressively harder as you go up. There’s a few areas where there’s really steep stairs and a spiral staircase. There’s also a tunnel to walk through and some more stairs at the very top. The view is amazing. I can’t even describe how beautiful it is up there. I wish we could have stayed up there longer, but the park closes at 6pm and they lock all the gates. As you can tell from the picture, it’s really windy too. Can you see the ocean clear down there?
Monday- Memorial Day! There’s a Memorial Day tradition based on an Asian tradition they hold every year at Ala Moana Beach Park. Lanterns are written on, with messages to ancestors and loved ones, then lit and sat in the water to float off with the blessings and prayers. What a beautiful sight and a beautiful ceremony. It was the perfect ending to a Memorial Day.
Tuesday- Our last full day in Hawaii. It was so sad to leave, but I miss the kids and I guess it’s time to get back to reality. We spent the day visiting new places and saying good bye to familiar places. This is the view of our beach from our hotel. I’m going to miss our beach.
Wednesday- Time to leave Hawaii. Back to car pools, lessons, sports, homework, cleaning the house, cooking, laundry, weeding and so on. I’m going to miss mine and hubby’s personal time together, but I can’t wait to see the kids again and spend some time with them. I would love to come back next week though.
Thursday- We had the cutest little visitor today. Ella, our first granddaughter came over, she brought her brother, Parker and parents too. Ella was born just a few days before we left for Hawaii and we weren’t able to go down to see her. We were so happy to be able to hold her and play with her for a while. What a cutie! Proud grandpa is holding her.
Friday- Ammon’s playing T-ball this year. It’s his first year and he’s the tallest on the team. He’s loving it so far. His favorite position is catcher. Doesn’t he look so cute with the mask and vest on? If the coach would let him, he’d play catcher all game.
Saturday- Maddux came to visit us today. He brought his parents along too. Ty had a rugby game and Whitney had a reunion to attend. What a cutie! I know you can’t see his face, but I thought he looked so cute laying on his daddy’s tummy while they were both sleeping. It’s great having grandkids.
Sorry this is so long, but it’s one more thing I’m finally caught up on.
Is Hawaii not the most glorious place on earth?!!!!
It looks like you had to most amazing time! You deserve it! But welcome back–we missed you!
