Front Door Message Board

You know how much I love spray paint, well I think I love chalkboard paint even more. So I decided to make a chalkboard message board for the front door.

I started with this Halloween sign I bought from Dollar Tree a few years ago. Sorry about the really bad picture, but it was in the background of something else I was taking. I accidently erased the before picture I took this year. Don’t you hate when that happens?

I used 3 coats of chalkboard spray paint for good coverage and since it’s going to be outside.

Then I had fun rubbing a stick of chalk all over it and wiping it off with a cloth before it was going to be used.

I cut some vinyl letters and an arrow using my Cricut and contact paper.

And then attached them too my new message board. No, I didn’t measure, I just eyeballed it. You know me too well.

Then I needed something to hold the chalk. I went to Lowe’s hunting for something that would work, but everything cost too much. Then I found a hinge for only .98 cents. I brought it home and spray painted it black.

I needed to make sure it was going to hold the chalk well so I super glued the hinge in place. I used super glue because it works extremely fast and I’m inpatient.

Then I super glued it to the board.

Tied a ribbon on it and hung it by the front door. Ready for all my visitors to leave me messages when I’m not home. Not that I get a lot of visitors when I’m not home, but it’s still cute.

And maybe I’ll even get some fun messages when I am home.

Or maybe I’ll leave some fun messages for my family when they come home. I’m excited how it turned out.

How clever are you! The hinge is the perfect touch.

That is so clever, and I really love how you used the hinge. Hope we get to see it in action (with messages from your kids or something).
