I tend to lean toward less tradition wreaths which means I usually end up making my own. I’m sharing how to make this beautiful Christmas Wire Hoop Wreath using 3 wire hoops and various Christmas stems.
Supplies needed for Christmas Wire Hoop Wreath:
package of 3 wire hoops of various sizes
ribbon (2 sizes)
Christmas picks or stems (3-6)
bells
twine
wire
hot glue gun and sticks
This post is not sponsored by Walmart but I live in a small town and don’t have many options so all of these products were found at Walmart. They tend to have a pretty good supply of Christmas decorations and accessories at a good price. But I would recommend shopping where you like in your area.
The package of 3 metal rings is found in the floral department. You can make 3 individual wreaths or combine them all for one modern wreath. Combine the hoops using the example below or design your own.
Tightly wrap wire around each intersection of rings then hot glue the back to give it extra strength. It was to flimsy with just the wire.
Since the wire is silver I used a gold marker to color it gold. You could also use a little paint if that’s what you have. This isn’t a necessary step but it helps the wire blend in.
Start by hot gluing the first stem in place. This stem is still assembled but you can also take it apart and use the pieces separately. I did that later with some of the other stems.
I love the bell on this stem so I decided to add a few more. Wire or hot glue them in place. You can also add other holiday embellishments.
Continue gluing stems onto the hoop until you get the fullness and length you like. Incorporate different stems for variety or use the same stems for a simple and elegant wreath. You can use this photo as an example. I started pulling stems apart and gluing them on separately to fill in some spaces.
Once one side of the wreath is finished move to the other side. I didn’t make them even on purpose but it’s just a style preference for me. You can make each side exactly the same if you like.
Wrap twine around the stem ends and hoop to hide the ends. It finishes the ends off well.
I took a stem apart and used the wired pieces for this step but you can use twine if you can’t find this pick. The wire made it extra easy and fast.
I like how it finishes off the wreath and hides the imperfections where the stems meet. You can see that I also added bells to the other side of the wreath to balance it out.
Make a long simple bow out of the wide ribbon. Attach it to the wreath with wire. Fold the ribbon ends in half long wise and make a diagonal cut for a finished pretty end.
Hang the wreath by the thinner ribbon. I also chose a different color.
Isn’t it so pretty? I have it hanging on the closet door so you can see it from the front door.
