I started working on my mantel for Christmas. I’m not ready to show the whole mantel yet, but I wanted to share my “believe” banner.
I started with glitter stickers, pom-pom fringe and small cupcake liners.
I printed this off The Graphics Fairy blog. If you haven’t been there before. Check it out. There’s so many wonderful free things to print off. I wanted to have Christmas text in the background, even though it’s not going to be very readable once it’s finished.
I used a 1 3/4″ punch for the circles.
Then applied the glitter stickers to the circles.
I simply flattened the cupcake liners using my fingers. They won’t be perfectly flat.
Then I attached the paper to the cupcake liners using a glue stick.
I wanted to add some color to the banner, so I decided to glitter some clothespins red. I used this glitter, because it was the only red I had and I was trying to use things I already had around the house. I actually like the really fine glitter better.
I secured the finished letters to the pom-pom fringe with the clothespins.
The ends of the banner looked a little blah, so I used wire to twist together some ornaments.
And attached them to the hooks holding the banner.
I’m pleased with how it turned out. You could add more layers to the banner by attaching larger cupcake liners or larger circles to the back. Or you could even cut out large triangles and attach the letters to them. Hmmm, maybe I’ll be adding a little something to my banner later.
Happy decorating!
Your garland is beautiful, everything about it. You can never go wrong with pompom trim, and with the silver it reminds me of snowballs.
So cute!! I love the cupcake liner idea…cute for the kitchen (and where you have yours, of course!). I’ve been hemming and hawing over making a banner (don’t ask why, I wouldn’t know what to say) and think I’m gonna try your version!!
Hello,
I looked for the Christas Carol text and couldn’t find it on the site. I would be grateful if you would point the way.
With gratitude,
Heather

I realize that I am just now seeing this after Christmas, but I am sitting her at the beginning of March trying to get my jaw off the counter. Brilliant I tell you!! Thank you so much for your blog. I don’t know how I happened upon it exactly but I have gotten so many ideas from it already. The biggest one being my mantle, so thank you!
