Beaded Vase Fillers

I saw some beaded vase fillers ( I don’t know what else to call them) at a floral shop a couple months. They were way out of my price range, so I decided to make some for myself.

I started with a roll of wire for $1.50 and a $2 pack of beads. I chose brown tones because of Thanksgiving, but the ones at the shop were bright colors and I loved the way they looked.

I cut the long wires at 14″.

And the short wires at 6″. Since I didn’t take any pictures or measurements, I just adapted everything to the size I wanted.

I twisted the ends of the wires to hold the beads on.

Then I started adding the beads. This is pretty much the pattern that was on the ones at the shop.

I beaded one of the short wires and twisted it into the longer wire.

Then I beaded the second short wire and twisted it into the other wires.

Once I had 5 of those (which took me about 1 1/2 hours while watching TV) I twisted them all together.

I did different variations of the beading. At this point I’m thinking it looks kind of like Medusa’s hair.

But I really like it in the pitcher. I think I need to make 2 more groups. I still have a lot of beads and wire, so the total cost of the project will only be $3.50. My fingers are too tired now, maybe later this week.
