Sometimes it’s hard to love your space when you come home to the same thing day after day and night after night. Everything looks the same so you don’t even notice the things you once loved anymore. I like pieces that can be moved around from room to room. It’s amazing what just moving pieces around can do for your home and your budget.
Everything used to design this mantel was taken from other areas in my home. I didn’t have to spend a dime and I got the pulled together look I was going for by using similar items and neutral colors.
Here’s another one where I just took things from other areas of my home. Notice the empty frame is the same but looks completely different in this setting.
I love using colored glass for many reasons: it adds a punch of color to an area, it doesn’t take up a lot of visual space and you can add them to different settings and they always look different.
Seasons and Holidays are another perfect time to change things up. You don’t have to spend a lot of money or have a lot of space to add some seasonal and holiday decor for a quick change that will make everything feel new again. These vintage ornaments are hung from a chandelier instead of on the tree, plus it kept them away from little hands.
Another seasonal display where I’m using things I already have in my home. You’ll notice I’m using some of the same pieces but they look fresh and new in a different arrangement with different accessories. Something as simple as a bright ribbon can give you that update you’re going for. As you can tell I like changing my mantel.
So here’s a little challenge for you. Take a few items from one room and move them to another, group them together differently then move some things into another room. Have fun doing it and tweak it as you go. Once you change things up in your home you’ll notice the things you really love again.
