Do you remember this tray I bought at D.I.? It was only a $1 but once it was painted and snazzed up a bit I knew it would be beautiful.
This is what it looks like now. Pretty nice transformation, don’t you think? I had been seeing glass trays, vases, and furniture around for a while now and had been wanting to make something with glass.
I started with spray painting the tray silver. Even though it’s wood, it gave it that reflective feeling I was going for. The bottom looks horrible, but I had a remedy for that.
I bought these glass tiles at Hobby Lobby for 50% off each package of them.
I placed the tiles down to lay out the pattern and get them to fit the best way possible. I made the 4 center rows using the larger tiles and placed the smaller tiles around the perimeter. Then I used super glue to adhere them to the bottom of the tray.
Isn’t she lovely? I’m so happy with how she turned out.
I can’t wait to decorate her for Valentine’s Day and won’t she look beautiful with shells on her during the Summer months?
The best part is this beautiful tray only cost me a total of $6. Lonny Magazine (Michelle) placed mirrored accent pieces in her Top 5 decorating trends of 2011. I have a hard time embracing some trends, but I’m loving mirrored accent pieces.
gorgeous! LOVE it! I want to make one too 🙂
Awesome idea with the mirror tray:) I once saw a similar work, but the tray was glued colorful mosaics.
I really love trays and that one is classy! I am amazed that you were able to fit those mirrored squares so perfectly without having to make any cuts!
This is so amazing! Beautifully done. I will have to remember this.
That’s really pretty! It looks so classy and so modern. Well done!

I adore trays but this is the first mirrored one I’ve seen. Love it! It’s pretty for serving, or I’d put it in my bedroom too.

Love this idea. I have a mirrored end table in the living room, and something like this would really help to tie it to the dining room. I might just have to go try it myself!
Your post rocks so much that I featured it at this weeks link party: Hookin up with HoH #35!

Wonderful idea! Yours turned out really pretty. I have a tray just like this, except mine is painted really ugly stripes. I bought it at the thrift store for $1. It needs a makeover. Maybe I’ll try this. 🙂
I may be copying this 🙂
I have old serving trays on my TO FIND list and was planning to paint them …. I hadn’t thought about the mirrors but I LOVE the idea (and don’t want to pay $30 for the one at target)
Love this! I so have been wanting to buy those little mirror tiles for my own project and now that I know how great they look, I am going to get some!
Pretty and classy, I’m sure it looks great in your home 🙂
So pretty and classy! Great idea.
