Do you remember this tray I bought at D.I.? It was only a $1 but once it was painted and snazzed up a bit I knew it would be beautiful.
This is what it looks like now. Pretty nice transformation, don’t you think? I had been seeing glass trays, vases, and furniture around for a while now and had been wanting to make something with glass.
I started with spray painting the tray silver. Even though it’s wood, it gave it that reflective feeling I was going for. The bottom looks horrible, but I had a remedy for that.
I bought these glass tiles at Hobby Lobby for 50% off each package of them.
I placed the tiles down to lay out the pattern and get them to fit the best way possible. I made the 4 center rows using the larger tiles and placed the smaller tiles around the perimeter. Then I used super glue to adhere them to the bottom of the tray.
Isn’t she lovely? I’m so happy with how she turned out.
I can’t wait to decorate her for Valentine’s Day and won’t she look beautiful with shells on her during the Summer months?
The best part is this beautiful tray only cost me a total of $6. Lonny Magazine (Michelle) placed mirrored accent pieces in her Top 5 decorating trends of 2011. I have a hard time embracing some trends, but I’m loving mirrored accent pieces.
