Okay, I think I’ve overdone Wordle. It’s time to move on (no, I’ll still use it, but it’s time to try something new). I’m technically challenged, but I figured out how to do something on the computer that I think turned out pretty cute. I just typed it up in Word and changed the color to red. I played with the spacing a little to get it the shape I wanted.
In effort to simplify and create a calming atmosphere this Christmas, I’ve narrowed my colors down to white, silver-ish, and red (maybe a little black, because I can’t resist). I had a cute little silver star brad I decided to put on top of the Christmas word tree. I liked how it was coming together, but I needed to add a little bling. Can things be simple and blingy? I think they can.
I’m so glad I bought this silver tinsel I found at Ikea a few weeks ago. I couldn’t resist it and I knew I’d come up with some fun things to do with it this Christmas. For less than $3, it was worth it.
I cut the white paper down to 5 3/4 x 6 3/4″ and used double-sided tape to adhere it to the red cardstock. Then I hot glued the tinsel around the white paper.
I popped it in a cheapy $2 Wal-Mart frame and Ta-Da! I’m excited how it turned out and wanted to start decorating for Christmas right then, but I restrained myself. Besides hubby was having a fit about it not even being Thanksgiving yet. (I guess he hasn’t noticed the clear glass ornaments hanging from the chandelier, over the dining table).
Hubby was really having a fit when I started moving the mantel around. Don’t worry, the Thanksgiving mantel is back in place. I just had to try it out and see how it might look in 1 week and 4 days, but who’s counting. Ohhh, I can’t wait!
This is such a COOL idea! I want to try it for Christmas cards. I’ve been so inspired by your work lately.
Great Job! great idea for christmas cards Lisa!
Could you post a link to the file? Thanks for sharing.
your mantel looks lovely (when it’s actually time to decorate it, of course) but i love your new tree art. looks great framed!
How cute! You could even use this for the front of holiday cards!
Great idea! simple, inexpensive and cute! I am highlighting this at somedaycrafts.blogspot.com
Very cool idea. Simple, elegant (yet fun).
My mother in law had something similar that was made out of the old school letter blocks babies played with and had words and the names of her kids on it.
This gives me an idea!!
Thanks for linking up!!
Cute idea! I love it.
