Welcome to Day 29 of 31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing
Get your timer ready and let’s get those Eating and Cooking Utensils organized. The first step is to get rid of too many duplicate utensils to save on space and get rid of clutter. I have come to realize in my old age that we really don’t need as much as we think we do. Do you really need 6 spatulas unless you’re a restaurant?
If you keep a jar of cooking utensils by the stove go through that first. Only keep the utensils you use on a regular basis in there. How many utensils can you take out so it’s no longer overcrowded?
Use a drawer divider or 2 to keep your eating utensils sorted and organized. You can use a couple of plastic baskets to keep other utensils sorted. These small plastic baskets are usually 3 for $1 at most stores and they’re available in different sizes to fit your space. Remember that organizing doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. There’s no reason, especially if it won’t be seen by anyone else.
I use as many of the baskets as I can in this space to keep things sorted and organized. If you haven’t used a tool or utensil in over a year it’s time to let it go. I like having extra space, it makes it so much easier to find what you need. I actually added another basket to this drawer, but I had to run to the store to get it. I chose all white so I can switch things around whenever I need too or when we move from this house. Using the same color of baskets makes it look even more organized and cohesive.
