I’m sorry, I don’t know where this started but I think it’s a brilliant idea. Pick one “word” and focus on that word for the whole year. I saw bloggers choosing their words last year and wanted to jump on the band wagon, but never did. So this year I am, and I even made a sign to hang by my desk as a daily reminder of my “word”.
Resolutions can be hard for me. I get discouraged, I lose focus, I become really hard on myself and get disappointed. That’s a great way too improve yourself, right?
So this year I’m picking one word. SHARE!
No, I don’t have a problem with sharing my things. I even willingly shared my toys as a child. I mean, share more of myself. I have a hard time doing that. I become insecure and know I just won’t measure up to people’s expectations of me so I keep things to myself.
I’m going to Share Laughter. I need to laugh more and make my kids and hubby laugh. Believe it or not, I can be funny.
I’m going to Share Knowledge. I’m pretty smart at certain things (not math). I feel grateful when people share their knowledge with me. I need to do the same.
I’m going to Share Joy. I need to acknowledge the joy in my life and share more joy with others.
I’m going to Share Love. The best way to love someone is to serve them. So I’m planning on offering a lot of service this year, starting with my family.
I’m going to Share my Time. I can be pretty stingy with my time. It’s important to me. But by managing it better I’ll be able to spend more time on others.
I’m going to Share Tears. If something is bothering me or I’m going through a hard time I typically keep it inside. That’s not good. It makes me cranky and hard to live with. I’m going to be more honest with my feelings and share tears when I need to instead of keeping them to myself. Who else cries in the shower?
I’m going to Share my Beliefs. I feel strongly about things. Things I think are important and affect my family especially. I’m going to share those things even if it gets uncomfortable at times.
I’m going to Share my Talents. We all have talents and they’re all different, that’s the beauty of it. I don’t have a beautiful singing voice and I don’t play any instruments (talents which I wish I had) but I have other talents and I sometimes keep them hidden because I don’t think they’re good enough. Of course, they’re good enough and I’m going to share them.
I’m going to Share my Testimony. I have a testimony of the gospel and I don’t share it often because I feel inferior. What? No one should feel that way. I’m going to be brave and share what I know to be true.
I’m going to Share more of Myself. To share more of myself I need to let my guard down a little. That can be hard. It’s taken me years to put up these walls so it’s going to take me a while to tear them down. But that’s what I’m determined to do.
You all might regret me choosing this word. There is such as thing as sharing too much and I don’t want to cross that line.
This past year has been a difficult one and I want to thank all of you for your support, encouragement and kind words. 2012 is going to be amazing! I can feel it, I know it, and I’m going to make it happen. Thank you for sticking with me. And I promise there will be some awesome projects and ideas coming your way from my little space in the blogosphere.
I like your new word and your sign. Those are all great ways to share (and most of them won’t be TMI for the rest of us.)
You are so inspiring!
Thats a great word, and I love your visual representation of it! I want to do something similar now.
My word for this year is RECLAIM (I first saw the idea from Ali Edwards…I *think* she’s the one who started it…but I don’t know)
I don’t have a word this year, but a phrase instead. “Be Brilliant at the Basics.” I heard a speaker talk about this and it was super inspiring!
This is such a pretty project!
I absolutely love this! Great word, fabulous resolutions, lovely sign.
Love your word Leanne. I chose Be Fearless for many of the reasons you chose share. Good luck this year. I’m sure it will be fabulous. 🙂
Great way to keep focused on your word this year!! Great project!
This is so inspiring! I declared “SIMPLIFY” as my mantra, so perhaps I need to make a project to remind myself! 🙂 It’s stunning. Thanks so much for linking up!!
