While the boys are off track this week, we’ve been trying to find inexpensive and fun things to do. On Wednesday we went to the Ogden Nature Center. And it was inexpensive, only $8 for the 3 of us. I love the grass roof.
You follow a trail of locally made bird houses on the way to the Visitors Center. The boys had a great time checking these out and there are some really creative ones.
There are things to look at inside: snakes, salamanders, fish, birds, and this cute little owl. I wanted to take it home. They eat mice, right?
There are also hands-on projects and games. The boys checking out their wing spans. I don’t know why I didn’t think to have them face me.
The scenery is breath-taking. I will never tire from seeing the mountains everyday.
There are only 3 turkeys but it seemed like a lot more (they kept following us). They like staying around the buildings.
There is a birds of prey area, where we saw this beautiful bald eagle. He didn’t like Zach, he screeched at him a couple times.
Then it was time to explore a little more, so we decided to hit the trails. There was a little problem though. There had been a lot of rain that caused some flooding.
We still did our best to see things. The boys wanted to check out the man-made bear den so we went there first.
Then we made our way to Teal Pond and looked out the duck blind
onto the pond.
The boys had fun exploring.
And even though we weren’t able to make it very far on some of the trails they had a great time.
Things I’ve learned:
Don’t wear sandels. I saw snakes. Little snakes, but still snakes. I almost stepped on one.
Don’t go when it’s been raining a lot. Trails were blocked by water.
They offer nature day camps. I think my boys would love it.
My boys don’t fight when they’re outside running around.
Spending $1 for treats on the way home was worth it.
Have a beautiful weekend! The sun will be shining here.
