A Covered Dessert Stand

Is this the ugliest candlestick you’ve ever seen or what? It was at the Dollar Store, so only a dollar and I really liked the shape of it, so I brought it home. Then I went to the thrift store the next day and found this cheese tray for a dollar. Wow, I scored!

I had to really scrub to get it clean and then I painted them both heirloom white. I used the Gorilla super glue to adhere them together. I love this stuff, it takes less than a minute for it to work.

Oh, it’s so pretty now!

I love it and I love the color and shape. It looks like they were made for each other.

Doesn’t it look perfect in it’s new home? The dessert is not real, but it sure looks good. I think I did great for a total of $2. What do you think?

Okay. Wow! I’m SO impressed! This is fabulous. I’m fairly new to reading your blog and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Because you share things that just wow me. I NEVER would have thought to do something like this, my brain just doesn’t “see” the potential. I’m so glad that there are creative types like you who are willing to share fantastic things like this. Next time I got to the thrift stores, I can look for the potential of something similar.

    Thank you!

Wow, what a perfect example of ‘trash to treasure’! It’s amazing what a little paint can do. You took two fairly ugly pieces and turned them into a work of art!

  • Kim@cheapchichome January 16, 2010, 2:40 pm

I did this and painted it black, didn’t like it, so painted it red. After seeing yours it may get painted white – I really like it!
