Wood Grain Heart Frame .1

I’m participating in another Craft Lightning, but this time it’s a Valentine’s Edition. I can’t pass up the chance to make and share a quick craft so I came up with this faux wood grain heart frame for Valentine’s Day. Not only is this craft under 15 minutes but it also only cost me $1 since I had everything except the frame.

Wood Grain Heart Frame 5.1

Items needed:
Patterned paper (I used wrapping paper)
Glitter paper
Twine
Scrabble tiles
Heart charm
Wood frame
Wood or chipboard arrow

Decide where you want the pattern on the frame then trace around the frame onto the back side of the paper.

Cut around the outside of the paper using a paper cutter to ensure the cuts are straight, then cut the heart out using scissors. Apply a generous amount of glue (the extra strength glue works best) to the front of the frame making sure to cover the edges well. I use a seam roller over the top of the paper to get out any bubbles and get a smooth finish.

I traced the heart insert onto the back of the glitter paper and cut it out, then I glued the paper to the insert for added stability.

I can’t decorate for Valentine’s Day without a little bit of glitter.

I used hot glue to attach the scrabble tiles to the glitter paper. It holds the tiles well, but they can also be easily removed.

At the last minute I decided to add the arrow by cutting it in half and adding it to each side of the heart.

I adhered the arrow using glue dots.

Then I added the heart charm to the frame using baker’s twine.

Aww, aren’t we cute?! You can replace the LOVE tiles with a picture of your Valentine if you like. If you want to check out more quick crafts visit Craft Lightning on The Country Chic Cottage and 30 Minute Crafts.
