I saw some of the cutest twist ties at the craft store last week.
I decided it would be simple enough to make DIY twist ties.
So I gathered my supplies and got to work (I had everything on hand so they were free.)
I cut the paper 4 3/4″ long and a little over 1/4″ wide.
I used 26 gauge wire and cut it the same length as the paper.
Then I stuck double sided tape to the back side of the paper and peeled the protective cover off.
I stuck the wire to the tape.
Edited: The tape I used is Terrifically Tacky Tape (it’s on a roll) by Provo Craft. You can find it on-line and in most craft stores. It comes thin so it doesn’t have to be cut.
Then put the other paper on top.
I love this tape. It’s mega sticky.
Aren’t they fun? I love how they turned out.
You can make them out of any paper for any occasion.
I’m going to be making dozens of these for gift giving. Are you going to try your hand at DIY twist ties?

Those are adorable!!! What a great idea!
I’d love to make some of those!
Suzanne
Those are adorable! What’s the brand of tape you used? Did you have to cut the width to make it as thin as the paper strips or is it sold that thin?
Thanks!
Angie
Could this be done with fabric instead of paper so they could be reused more often? What brand of tape do you use?
ingenious
Love this idea.
Love this, Leanne! Also curious to know what kind of tape you used.
I thought it was fabric at first, great idea. I was wondering what kind of tape you used also.
Oops! I guess I should have told you what tape I used. It’s called Terrifically Tacky Tape (on a roll) by Provo Craft. You can order it on-line or find it in almost any craft store. It comes that thin so it doesn’t have to be cut.

Love these! So cute.
These are fantastic! I use twist ties all the time and never once thought about making them myself. I’ll be making myself some cute ties. Thank you!
I am addicted to making these. I have a jar of about 200. They look so pretty sitting on my sewing table. I found it easier to cut 12″ strips 1/2″ wide and put the tape/wire on half and fold over. I then cut the strip into 3 4″ pieces.
Leanne…………Thank You for this “Awesome” idea……….I am going to use them for my Cake Bite Business as a way to advertise………Love it!
i was going through a braiding phase and i made something like this sometime ago except the ones i made were out of fabric and i used them to wrap the elastic on the end of my braids….

This is so clever! cute little idea for bake sales, etc.
Have you tried fabric? It wouldn’t ripe like the paper and would be reuseable
Sorry meant rip lol
