Are your cords all in a jumble? Do you have a hard time finding the one you need?

I have an inexpensive and colorful storage solution for you. I used the duct tape I had on hand and saved TP rolls, then I bought the tote for about $4 from Wal-Mart. That was my only cost.

The rolls are just about a 1/4 inch to long for 2 strips of the tape so I had to use 3 and cut off the excess. I left a 1/4 inch on each end so I could tuck it inside the tube.

Once they’re done, add the labeled cords and place them in the tote.

I keep the tote in the hall closet so we all have easy access to it.

What a neat idea!

I’m wondering if it would be a good idea to label the tubes in some way so that you would more easily identify which cord you’re looking for

I think that would be great. Label away! I labeled all the cords but you could also use a label maker and stick a label on the outside of the tube. :)

This is THE CUTEST IDEA ! ! ! I can’t wait to do this!

Never thought to use TP rolls for that… good idea. Thanks.

This is a great idea! I’ve used t.p. rolls for years to hold my cords, but never thought to make them look attractive with duct tape! I have pinned your stuff before but have never really asked, do you mind if I pin your stuff? Because I’d love to pin this!

Oh my goodness, what a wonderful idea! I knew I was saving all those TP rolls for something good like this :)

What a great idea to keep those mess of cords much neater and easier to find. Great idea!

I’ve stored cords on the products that I use in TP rolls for years. Now I will decorate them and add the rolls to cords that I don’t use daily. What a great organized way to store them.

So glad to see you used the TP cores. I’ve thought of things to do with them in the past but figured I’d get “pounced” on by the “germaphobes” out there! Great idea!! Keep up the good work.

What a great idea and I’m sure I can find an empty clear storage box around here; did I miss something in your posting? How do you label the cords so the label is visiable so you’ll know which cord is in which tube? Love the colored duct tape. I need to finish decluttering my computer desk. I separated most of it into folders and will go through each folder and discard what might be duplicates or I no longer feel the need to keep it, then I will file what I keep in the proper 3 ring notebook or magazine storage” thingy.” I bought a plastic file box from Staples a few months ago and it is beside my nightstand, so I will use so much time before I go to bed for filing them or discarding them.

This might be silly. I love this idea, but I was wondering what do you do with the big boxy end of the cord? I don’t see it sticking it out of the rolls.

Okay I saw your second picture from a different angle so now I see it. Guess I should always look more closely.

Love it!!!

well I have to say I love this idea since I have been using it along with paper towel tubes for ages. having done this pre pretty duck tape I used things like decoupage, contact paper to make them look prettier. thanks for giving this some beauty and legitimacy. I do not think I had seen your blog before its being featured today.

Bread tabs are great to put on cords to identify lengths & name. Particularly if you are involved with outside your home volunteering activities. Like the TP covers since I’ into color co-ordinations .LOL

Nancy July 2, 2014 at 3:00 pm

This is probably stupid. Are you duct taping 2 rolls together? TP rolls are pretty small. Narrow that is.
