Who decorates their mantel every month? I do! I love changing things up to represent a season or holiday. I wasn’t ready for red, white, and blue yet so I decided to decorate using a Seaside Mantel theme. I don’t live by the sea, I live in the desert but I could totally live on the coast. It’s my happy place. This mantel reminds me of the sea without being too obvious.
You don’t need to buy anything to change up your mantel. Gather items from around your house that supports the theme you’re working with. I actually did buy one thing this month. Every once in a while I like to splurge and buy something new.
I fell in love with this Whale picture at Hobby Lobby so he came home with me and the mantel was based around him.
The shell ball is actually an ornament we bought in Hawaii. Another tip is to decorate with things that make you happy and have a wonderful memory attached, like our week in Hawaii. I would love to go back there and take the whole family this time.
I usually decorate with this mustard vase in Fall, but because of the color it was perfect with this picture. The lantern is from Ikea. I wish I would have bought a couple more.
Use things in unexpected ways such as filling a lantern with shells.
This fan is from the RV we’ve working on. Since we don’t need them in the RV anymore, I took them to decorate with. Along with shells I also love rocks, so filling a bottle up with them was an easy way to decorate. Wrap rope around the top of a bottle for texture and to meet the idea of the theme. The old blue glass bottle looks like it washed up on shore.
I made a little sea star garland to fill in the blank space on the wall.
I love the soft colors and how peaceful the mantel feels. It’s the little break I need before I pull out the bold red, white, and blue. I think I need more sea stars. I love how they look tied together.
Give me a couple weeks and I’ll have an all new decorated mantel, but that’s the fun of it, right?
Happy Decorating!
I love this! It’s so sweet and simple. My parents are in the middle of decorating their new beach house and I’m all about nautical right now. Thanks for sharing!
