Spy Birthday Party

Well, the Spy Party was a huge success. All the kids had a great time and Zach said it was the best party ever. It’s the next day and they’ve been talking about it all morning. Emilee had a great time too and Ammon wants a Spy Party now for his birthday.

The party started with the boys coming over to the table a getting the supplies they would need for the mission. Since they were all arriving at different times, some boys were putting on their gear while others were still arriving and bringing their scooters and blades to the door. Spy gear: compasses, sunglasses, beanies, listening devices and water bottles. And they were all asked to wear black, which was a great idea because it was way easier to find them at the Skating Rink when it got crowded.

Since some of the guests still hadn’t arrived so we decided to open presents first. A huge bag of candy. A perfect gift for a 10 year old boy.

SS851251

We had black balloons blown up and a message was rolled up and placed in one of the balloons. The balloons were bombs.

SS851201

The Spys ready for their Mission.

SS851253

After all the boys arrived. It was time to make the bombs explode to find the message about their mission. The boys got busy popping all the balloons and it got pretty wild. The clue was found and it read something like: The Party Loot Bags have been stolen. If you choose to accept this mission and recover the stolen items you will need to collect all your important gear, alternate transportation (scooters or blades) and proceed to the transportation waiting for you in the garage. I didn’t take a picture of the clue.

SS851257

It took them a while to find the clue in all the popped balloon pieces.

SS851259

Once at the Skate Rink, we went to the bounce area. There they had to find Emilee and decipher the clue using the cipher card that came in their party invitation. Emilee had an extra cipher card in case the boys forgot theirs. It took them a while to find her.

SS851262

Still looking.

SS851263

Deciphering the code.

SS851264

Still working on it.

SS851265

Which leads them to the place where Doug is hiding with the next clue.

SS851273

They have to read the hidden message in the mirror to discover the next clue that will lead them to Amanda.

SS851274

Still hunting.

SS851271

Yay, they found her and the next clue. Sorry, but I was running around trying to get all these pictures and missed some. She gave them play money, on the back was written the next message that said: The stolen items have been located near the large oval. Which was the skating rink. It took them a while to figure that out.

SS851275

They couldn’t find the large oval.

SS851272

Once they found the large oval, they had to find the stolen loot. Look at Zach rechecking the clue on the money.

SS851276

They found Doug and thought maybe he had the bags. They were right! The bags had glow in the dark laynards to wear for skating, glow in the dark straws, exploding rock candy, lots of candy and more spy gear.

SS851278

Then it was time for pizza, cupcakes and donut bombs.

SS851280

Hungry boys.

SS851287

And thirsty.

SS851289

Mmmmmm! Yum!

SS851208

More bouncing.

SS851270

Flipping.

SS851290

Sock races.

SS851297

Riding scooters.

SS851305

Then it was time to go.

SS851293

It was a fun party. The helpers even had a fun time. Happy 10th Birthday Zach! I hope you had an amazing time at your party with your fun friends!

Thanks for visiting and have a beautiful weekend.

The idea for a spy party is absolutely grand. Love it. My favorite I think is the “donut bombs.” Absolutely genius. And so easy with just a piece of licorice.

In answer to your question, I am in a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. I love photography and would be delighted to do a shoot, but it sounds like you are far away from here….so that would take some serious planning. Hahaha. Thank you for your interest though. I am trying really hard to expand my photography business right now.

Thanks so much for the idea! I am going to do something like this for my son’s 8th bd. He has been interested in spy stuff since he was 3 and really wanted a spy themed bedroom when we moved, but he is now sharing with his sister. I suggested they do something spy related for his bd and then he said he wanted laser tag. It would be nice to combine the two. I love the balloon and clue idea. Will work with this and devise our own. My original idea was to use water guns and have two separate teams, but I think it would be neat to have them all have to look for clues together and have a group mission. Very clever! I can’t hide my daughter though. She’s only 5 and always gives herself away at hide and seek within the first second!
