Our family likes to take weekend trips quite often, for dance competitions or just a quick getaway. There’s always so much to do before a trip, even a quick one, that I like to have as much done before hand as possible. One of the ways I do that is to have the toiletry bags pre-packed with as many items as I can.
I buy the travel size bottles of shampoo, body wash, mouth wash, etc. Then as they run low I refill them from our larger size bottles of the same item. I check the bags as we’re unpacking and either refill the item or buy new of the travel size item. Then I can pack the bag again and it’s 75% ready to go. I just need to add a few things to it before we head out the door like: hubby’s razor, toothbrushes, hair accessories and hubby’s meds and we’re ready to go.
Here’s my bag almost packed.
I just need to add meds, hair accessories, jewelry, skin care, make-up and I’m ready to go. Most hotels now have blow dryers, so I don’t pack mine. It just takes up space.
I store them on a shelf in the closet and they’re ready to grab and fill in a couple minutes. It’s such an easy thing to do, but it saves me a lot of time. I don’t run out of what we need and I know we have everything when we get to our destination.
Another great travel idea is to having a packing check list, especially if you have a lot of people to pack for. Write the family members name on the list and tuck it in the suitcase to reference for future trips.
I try to do this too, but it seems whenever we’re ready to pack, I’m outta something. I like your idea of filling them up with what you already use, especially as you’re unpacking from a trip!
I’ll add your link party to my list of linkys on the site, and I hope to participate when I can. I’m about as unorganized as they get, so I’ll be looking forward to lots of inspiration from the other party-goers 🙂
I do this same thing. Makes life so much easier!
Leanne you have such great ideas. That would be great to have half of the packing done from the start. (Does that make sense?)
Anyway, I think the linky party is a great idea. I will participate when I figure out how to link to another site. I’m pretty illiterate.

The ready-to-go travel sized bottles are a really great idea! I think I’m going to do that next time I’m at the store. I am a big fan of the packing list as well, but I like how visually appealing yours is!
Visiting from Works For Me Wednesday!
Found you from House of Hepworths blog roll. Have a great trip. Can’t wait for the link party.
I love the idea of your linky party–I am always searching for organizing ideas!!!
Love the idea for the link party. I always have a toiletries bag packed too. Just makes everything easier!
I love your packing list!! Did you make it or find it somewhere?
Hi Leanne!
I *love* your organization link idea! I’ll be here, every Wednesday, enjoying all the tips. Hopefully, I will have a few of my own to add. Love the blog – this is my first time to leave a comment, sorry about that! 🙂 (been enjoying your blog for a couple of months…)
Blessings!
Leanne, I would like to be a part of the Reorganized Wednesdays 🙂 I haven’t had much time with kids, sports, school, my classes, work, etc. but hopefully I will be able to contribute something to the mix.
I’ll be linking up my new and very organized crafting room:)
Hi!
I would love an organizing linky party!!!
Wish I had some tips for you to help you throw a party, but I don’t know anything either, yet, sorry!
But I’ll participate!
What a fun and helpful idea!
can’t wait!
Blessings as you figure it out 🙂
I’m not very organized and would love to participate, mabe I will get some ideas!
I travel for work and always have a bag packed. I also have this same packing list that I purchased from Michaels but I keep an EXCEL spreadsheet with a much more detailed list on it. I think the idea for your party is great.
Great idea! I like that it’s there and ready to go!
Thanks so much for linking up, girl!
🙂
