It’s cloudy here today and hubby was suppose to be home, but the plane broke down so he’s stuck in Vermont. I’m thankful it broke before it got off the ground, but the kids and I are sad he won’t be home tonight. So to help cheer myself up I thought I’d make something bright and Springy for the house. I used what I had on hand and sometimes that leads to problems like…. well, you’ll see in just a minute. Here’s what I started with.
I cut the stems of the flowers to about… so long.
I poked the stem in the Styrofoam where I wanted the flower, pulled it out and applied the hot glue then stuck it back in.
I was planning on making 2 flower balls and this is all I was able to finish. Not even one. It is bright and Springy though.
Now, on to another plan. I gathered these supplies.
I cut the scrapbook paper to size, wrapped it around the candle and hot glued it in the back.
Then added some trim I had left over from a card and wouldn’t you know, it didn’t fit. And I don’t care, it’s in the back.
I added the cute flower and called it good.
So, now I have a flower ball that isn’t complete, but that’s okay because no one can tell. (Remember my family and friends don’t read my blog. I know, it’s sad.)
And a candle that’s not completely finished, but that’s in the back so I don’t care about that either.
They’re by my front door on a little landing area of the stairs. It brightens and cheers that little corner, especially today when it’s cloudy and dreary outside.
It didn’t turn out exactly as I had planned with 2 flower balls on the tall candlesticks, but I’m happy with it. Everything doesn’t always go as planned and it can turn out beautiful anyway.
Now I’m off to take my kids out to dinner to cheer them up. And myself, since I don’t want to cook tonight.
I love Gerbera daisies, even if they aren’t real … they are so pretty!
i love this idea, and i have a set of candle sticks like those, but my FI doesnt love candles, so the flowers are an amazing idea, i do the ribbon wrapped candle thing a lot. i had some off white candles that lasted all year, i used a straight pin with orange ribbon/silk leaves…christmas ribbon/bow… pastel ribbon/silk flower… i didnt have much storage space so i didnt have to have different colored candles for different seasons, and since id didnt light these ones often, they lasted all year!
Kute, and springy!
So pretty! Perfect for spring.
Sincerely ~ Trish
