Remember the cupcake tower I won at A Soft Place To Land from The Cupcake Tower? I couldn’t wait to use it, so I did the first opportunity I had. Hubby’s Birthday! I’m not a great cook, but I can at least make cupcakes and I was pretty proud of myself for how they turned out.
How cute is that tower and those cupcakes look pretty good too. The one’s with the white frosting are lemon cake and lemon frosting (Hubby’s request) and the one’s with red frosting are confetti cake and vanilla butter cream frosting. Both frostings are homemade from a Rachael Ray recipe (tweaked a little). What do you think of the frosting job? Pretty good, huh?
We went to Robintino’s for Hubby’s birthday dinner. His favorite restaurant of all time.
Getting wished a Happy Birthday over the phone from the Canada crew. Amanda mugging for the camera too.
Ammon, Zach and Emilee waiting for the food.
Emilee and Amanda sang while Amanda played the guitar for their Dad’s birthday.
A few birthday decorations.
New golf shoes for the birthday boy.
I had planned a Surprise Party for Hubby’s birthday and it worked. He was really in the dark. I can’t believe I pulled it off with the help of a few little white lies. Friends and relatives met at Sparetime to play Laser Tag (Hubby’s favorite game). Here’s the players from left to right: Richard, Sean, Anne, Amanda, Hubby, Robert, Jeanine, Josh, Kelly, Jimmy, Mary, and in the front row: Zach, Ammon, Emilee and of course, Me (behind the camera).
Here’s the results of Laser Tag. Who won? Oh yeah, that would be ME! Take that my younger nephews!
After Laser Tag we went home to another surprise. Those who weren’t able to come to Laser Tag were waiting at our home to surprise Hubby. We had cupcakes and an ice cream bar with lots of toppings.
More of the party goers: Anne, Sean, Taylor, Jeri, Richard.
Emilee, Jeanine, Robert.
Jimmy, Mary, David, Hubby’s Dad.
Nicole, Josh, Dani, Kelly, Hubby’s Mom.
Those missing because of crying babies: Marcie, Nikki, McKenna, Tristin, Joel, Marie, Laura, Amanda, Zach, Ammon. They went upstairs to make the babies happy. Sorry babies, we were little loud. Hubby was so surprised. You only turn the big 5-0 once.
How fun! My daughter just went and played Laser tag and said it was a blast. Love the cupcake tower. How about sharing the recipe for frosting? I need a good one.
Brooke
The cupcakes look great! I also wouldn’t mind trying out your recipe for the frosting and the lemon cake
