Chalkboard Tags

I have these scrapbook tags I know I’ll never use for scrapbooking. I really like their shape and they’re thick chipboard, so I knew I’d be able to use them somewhere.

Zach needed some tags for the totes in his bedroom, so chalkboard paint came to the rescue once again.

After painting and letting them dry for the recommended time, I primed them by rubbing all over the surface with the chalk on it’s side.

Once I wiped them off they were ready to write on. Because I was too lazy to walk upstairs, I tried to remember what was in the totes.

Then I added some twine through the hole so I would be able to hang them from the totes.

Yeah, once I got upstairs I realized I had spelled Magnetex wrong. Oh, well Zach can change it. These totes are under a bench that used to be in my room. I knew it would go better in Zach’s room.

This tote holds electronic games, but I couldn’t fit that on the tag so I just wrote games.

These totes fit perfectly under Zach’s bed and slide out easily. They hold most of his toys (do you call them that at 10 years old?) Anyway, when I showed his closet some of you were wondering where his toys were. He has a playroom he shares with his brother, just down the hall. He also has the totes under his bed and bench that hold more toys.

His room is starting to come together slowly but surely. This was another no cost project for his room. The gray totes had been in storage, the black tote was an extra one from the laundry closet and the blue totes were from when him and Ammon shared a room.

What a great idea! I am going to do make these and pin them to the outside of my laundry hamper that has 3 dividers. I hope it helps the family figure out how to separate their reds from their whites! Thanks for the tip!

Leanne, I love this idea on so many levels.
    1. It’s a great way to reuse old scrapping supplies.
    2. The chalkboard paint can be almost any color these days.
    3. You could even use the tags for gift tags or pantry tags, etc.
    4. It’s such a “green” idea for tags that can be reused and recycled.
    I LOVE IT!
    Thanks for sharing.

This is such a cute idea. I’ve never used chalk board paint. It’s interesting that you can spray paper and sand it, etc.
