Quick Tip #5 – Lighting the Deck

I’ve been wanting to add lighting to my deck (on the cheap). I bought 2 strands of large lights after Christmas for .80 cents each and used cup hooks to hang them from the deck.

It’s looking really good during the day, but I can’t wait to see it at night. Don’t pay any attention to the deck, I know it needs to be re-stained. Focus on the lights!

They light the stairs perfectly.

I can’t believe how bright it is. I’m going to love sitting out here in the evenings. In fact, the family tried it out for a few minutes tonight.

Here’s another view just for fun. Isn’t it great what you can do with $1.60 in lights and a package of cup hooks?

Oh my gosh! It’s beautiful, simply beautiful. I would want to be out back at night EVERY NIGHT if my deck looked like that!

the hooks are a fantastic idea. i’ve got lights around my deck now, but they look terrible flopping around. these hooks will save me.

I’ve done this for years. Christmas lights in white or clear are for all year! Glad you posted this for others. Inexpensive and lovely. The bulbs last a long time too BTW. For holidays you can switch them out with colord bulbs for the holiday, also. Too much fun!

Love this idea, so pretty and cheaper than rope lights. My problem, the outdoor plug is at the front of the house, so maybe candles instead, still like this idea better. Your deck is beautiful.
