Glass Ball Ornaments

We’re a little financially strapped this Christmas season as I’m sure a lot of you are too. So I’m using what I already have available to make my home ready for Christmas. I took a look around my craft room to see what I could add to clear ornaments to make them more interesting hanging on our tree this year. Maybe you can use some of these ideas to spruce up your old ornaments.

Epsom Salt looks like snow in a clear glass ball. Simply pour it in and enjoy.

I’ve gotten so much use out of pom poms this Christmas. These were also used on a banner, garland and wreath this year.

What’s more festive that silver bells and beautiful tinsel? These ideas are so simple yet so beautiful.

I love painted glass ornaments. Simply pick 2-3 colors to use in each ball. Squeeze paint into ball and let it run down the inside of the ball. Alternate the colors and add the paint in about 4 places through the opening. Once you have paint about the size of a quarter at the bottom of the ball, roll the paint around to cover the whole inside of the ornament. Turn it upside down and let it drain for a few hours.

Since my colors are red and white this year, that’s what color I chose to paint mine. I love how they turned out.

These were coated completely with white paint on the inside then a sticker was attached to the outside.

I wanted to glitter the inside of some of the ornaments. Mod Podge and white glue were to thick and didn’t work well (I ruined 2 ornaments). I went through my craft room searching for something that might work. I found my can of Easy-Tack and it worked perfectly. I sprayed 3-4 sprays on the inside of the small ornaments and rolled it around to coat the inside.

Then I poured the glitter in and shook it around. Once it was completely coated, I poured out the excess. Have you noticed that glitter lasts forever? I think glitter is one of the best craft values (for your money) you can ever buy. I love glitter, especially at Christmas.

Another simple embellishment, just add some decorative tape around the ornament. Quick, easy and cute.

I used some left over mini garland to fill some more glass ball ornaments.

The smaller ornaments were hung on the tree.

I think I’m going to make more glitter ones.

The larger ones were hung in the little window by the front door.

So what do you think? Are you going to see what items you can think of to fill those empty glass ornaments? I had so much fun I’m going to dig through my boxes and see if I have more clear glass ornaments to decorate on the inside.
