Christmas Mantel

You knew my mantel was going to be the first thing I decorated for Christmas, didn’t you? I love starting with the mantel for any holiday or season. It’s an easy thing for me to decorate and it gets me motivated and inspired to decorate the rest of my house.

My color scheme for Christmas is green, brown, gold, and white. So the first thing I did was pull out things in those colors to consider decorating the mantel with. My decorating budget for this year is close to $0, so I’m trying to use things I already have around the house. Obviously not all of this is going on the mantel, but I like to keep my options open.

This is how it all came together. I love the colors I chose this year. They bring a feeling of comfort and peace to my home.

Not all my decor is shiny and glittery but I wanted the mantel to stand out.

The PEACE sign and bird were in my bedroom during Christmas last year.

You can never have to many trees displayed, right?

A pinecone wreath is the perfect wreath for my mantel. I found this one at a thrift store for only $3. I usually use a thumbtack to attach the wreath’s ribbon to the middle shutter, but this wreath is too heavy so I attached it to the wall behind the shutter and then just pulled the ribbon over the top. The JOY was in my bedroom last Christmas also.

There’s still one thing missing; the banner, bunting, garland or what ever you want to call it. I’ll be working on that later this week.

How are you coming along on your Christmas decorating?

Would you like to see some more mantels? Here are the links to my 2010 mantel and 2009 mantel.

Gorgeous!! I really love the color scheme and all the trees. Looks like a sweet little winter forest on your mantle.

I’ve usually got all the decorations up by now, but we decided that we’d start a tradition of not putting up a single Christmas decoration until the day after Ollie’s birthday. Can’t wait to pull all the boxes out and start glitterizing (that’s a word, right?) the house! 🙂

Wow, what a gorgeous mantle! I love the monochromatic scheme you’ve got going on, and it’s still so attention grabbing. Stunning.

I just love the green and brown – with the sparkle.
The pinecone wreath is great, too.

My mantel is really narrow – about 5 or 6 inches. So, I am limited by what will fit on it. I’m hoping to find some really tall, yet narrow decor to bring some height. We’ll see if it works!

I love how your mantel turned out. It’s glittery cozy and yet uncluttered at the same time. Beautiful. If you have a moment, I would be thrilled if you shared this on my Inspiration Board {link party}. I know my readers would love it.
