Peek Through Last Week (January 9-15)

Sunday- Zachary had been playing with his yo-yo and Maddux had been watching him the whole time. Zach decided to pull it around on the floor to see what Maddux would do. He followed it everywhere. At least 3 times around the dining area and kitchen and up and down the hall. He was starting to get tired, but couldn’t resist following the yo-yo. Babies are so much fun to watch.

Monday- Today was Zach’s 11th birthday. It’s not a party year, but he got to pick where he wanted to eat for dinner. He picked Chuck-a-Rama. He loves buffets because he’s a picky eater and he can choose what he wants. He loves their macaroni and cheese, rolls, and ice cream. Adam, Whitney, Ty, and Maddux met us there to help celebrate his birthday. After dinner we came home for cake and ice cream. He opened his presents earlier in the day. He got a bike and clothes from Mom and Dad and money from grandparents and other relatives. He’s excited to go shopping and spend his money, but he’s not sure what he’s buying yet. Ammon’s excited too, because he gets Zach’s old bike.

Tuesday- I was driving the kids to school this morning and noticed the sun was just getting ready to rise over the mountains. The snow covered mountains are so beautiful. The sky was actually really clear this morning which can be pretty rare this time of year in Utah. The thermometer in the car read 8 degrees. Brrr!

Wednesday- Zach made this checker board out of a piece of paper and used cut up squares of paper for the pieces. That’s pathetic. I think I need to buy him a checker board.

Thursday- Yay! Whitney is in my BUNCO group. She had subbed a few times last year and this year Sheri asked her if she wanted to join. She likes playing and was really excited to be in a group now. She already knew a lot of the group because of living here about a year and a half before going off to college and also from the semester she attended from home. It will be fun having her in the group.

Friday- Ammon and his Chinese teacher, Mrs. Chen. He has Mrs. Ogilvie for half his subjects in the morning and Mrs. Chen for the other half of his subjects and Chinese in the afternoon. Mrs. Chen only speaks Chinese to the class, but she uses pictures and signs if the kids are having a difficult time understanding her.

Saturday- Hubby and I try to have a little time to ourselves every Saturday night (date night). We went to Chili’s (hubby’s favorite place) for dinner, Lowe’s for paint chips, and then to see a movie. We saw True Grit. It was okay, hubby enjoyed it a lot more than me. We usually go to dinner and a movie for date night. This year I want to try to get a little more creative.

Job Update: Hubby was offered a full time job, but (why is there always a but?) the pay offer stunk. They offered him 20,000 less than he was getting paid from his last job and only 3,000 more than he was getting paid from his part time job. To say the least, we were disappointed. After going through 3 interviews with them, hubby was hoping for a better outcome. But (a good one this time) he went to his part time job and told them the situation and they have upped his hours. Not full time yet, but (another good one) it’s working that way and will hopefully be full time in a few months. We’ll be able to hold on with his other part time job and the little bit of money I’m bringing in.

Thank you so much for your prayers and happy thoughts for me and my family. I can’t tell you how much we appreciate it. We’ve felt so much love and support these last few months and have been truly blessed by all of your thoughts and actions. Thank you for Christmas too. Our children had a wonderful Christmas because of lovely friends and neighbors sharing what they have with us. We are forever grateful.

You mentioned a birthday party year. Could you tell me a little more about that? =)

    Leanne-
I’ve been thinking about you- glad to hear things are a little better in the job front. Hopefully they’ll just keep heading up and up! Hang in there, cute lady!
    xoxo,
    Amy
