Peek Through Last Week (February 6-12)

Sunday– Super Bowl Sunday. I don’t care much about the game unless the Colts are playing, but I love the food, commercials, and  hanging out with family. We went to Whitney and Ty’s to watch the Super Bowl and eat dinner. It was a lot of fun and since we got home pretty late, the kids went straight to bed.

Monday– The girls were in school, hubby was at his part-time job, and Zach spent the night at Whitney and Ty’s, so me and Ammon had some alone time. What did he want to do? Go to McDonald’s play area. Our McDonald’s is being remodeled so we went to the one in Kaysville. He had a lot of fun playing on the playground and borrowed my camera to take a few pictures while we were there.

Tuesday– Ammon and Zach are off track right now. It’s hard to find fun things to do (that don’t cost anything) in the middle of winter. The boys have resorted to making up games out of other games. At least they’re entertained.

Wednesday– Stacie and I had Activity Days for the 8 and 9 year old girls today. We decided to make Valentine Cards and decorate cookies. The girls always have a lot of fun if paint and food are involved, so we knew it would be a big hit. These girls are such fun and they’re all so kind and helpful to each other. It’s a pleasure to come up with activities for these girls twice a month.

Thursday– Emilee was voted “Songbird of our Generation” by her 7th grade classmates. They vote on awards to give their classmates every year right before the Valentine’s Dance (stomp). She was excited, but also a little embarrassed. She had to wear her sash all day and had her picture taken with the other award winners.

Friday– Emilee has decided she likes making and eating muffins. I think she’s made them 3 times this week. She comes home from school, puts her things away, and makes muffins for her after school snack. The boys love it.

Saturday– Our Ward had a Valentine’s Dinner/Dance for the adults. I was in charge of the food (by myself, but hubby helped). I cleaned, poked, oiled, and wrapped 80 potatoes in aluminum foil. My hands were bleeding. Really! And they still have little cuts all over them and hurt. We had a Potato Bar with sour cream, green onions, broccoli, cheese, chili, and bacon bits for toppings. We also had salad, rolls, and peanut butter bars for dessert. The decorations were so fun, with candy on all the tables too. We ate dinner, had dance instruction for about an hour, then danced. It was a lot of fun and a great night out with hubby.

Job Update: Hubby’s still at 30 hours at his current job. We’re still hanging on. It’s been 5 months now since he lost his job and the savings has ran out, but we’re trying to make do with less pay. At least he’s at 30 hours a week now and hopefully 40 hours within the next 2 weeks. I know I’ve said that for a few weeks, but we’re still hoping. Hubby thinks it’s moving in the right direction and everything should be resolved soon. Keep your fingers crossed.

I hope you all had such a great week like we did.

Sending prayers your way for God to provide. He always does. About two years ago I was unemployed for six months and my savings ran out four months into it. I am a single mother – single income family. The last two months were filled with fear and discouragement, but God still provided and I made it through. Just when we were about to have our electricity and water shut off, and the car was on fumes and our cupboards and fridge were bare, I was offered a job that is perfect for me. I’m praying that God will see you through and bring the extra hours and income your family needs.
