Candlestick Bird Houses

by leanneja on April 29, 2016 · 2 comments

in Crafts, Decorating, DIY, Paint

I remember years and years ago I had several birdhouses around my house. Times changed and trends changed so I got rid of them and moved on to something else. When I was thinking of how to decorate the front porch for Spring the thought of bird houses came back to me. I wanted to do something simple but with enough height to look in proportion with the decorations I already had, so I made these Candlestick Bird Houses.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Duck Brand for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

We bought a new refrigerator recently. You would think I had a new house by the way I’ve been acting. Apparently new appliances make me really happy. Since I like things to last as long as possible and keep them looking nice, I’m always hunting for products to help me in that area. Lining my shelves seemed like the obvious answer to keep the shelves clean and scratch free so I was excited to try Easy Liner® with Clorox®. I also use baskets to keep food products organized and contained. I’ll talk more about tips on how to keep the refrigerator clean in this post.

I’ve had this chalk paint powder and wax for almost a year and am just now trying it. Why? Because I’ve never painted with chalk paint or waxed anything before and have been so intimidated to try it. One day last week I just decided to jump in and get this small table painted. In this post I’m going to be sharing my tips on How to Paint and Wax a Coffee Table. I love how it turned out and can’t wait to paint more pieces.

Decorating a Rental on a Budget

by leanneja on April 19, 2016 · 5 comments

in Decorating, Furniture

I have to be honest and say going from owning a home to renting a home has been a struggle. The rental home is smaller so that makes it even more difficult, plus I sold about half of my furniture before the move to fit everything into the rental. I ended up with stuff I really didn’t want and really didn’t go together. The rest of the house isn’t bad but the living room was a mess. After feeling sorry for myself I decided to do something about it and get my living room the way I want it to look for a minimal cost. I’m sharing my tips to Decorating a Rental on a Budget.

You know when you see a piece of furniture and you just have to have it? I have a thing for chairs and these really caught my eye. I don’t know if they’re mid century modern or deco art but I love the style so it doesn’t really matter. They were only $20 each and such a great deal that I just couldn’t pass them up. I’ll show you how I transformed them to High Gloss Accent Chairs for my living room in this post.

9 Creative Ways to give Gift Cards

by leanneja on April 15, 2016 · 0 comments

in Crafts, DIY, Gifts, Round-Up

Whoa, Teacher Appreciation Day and the end of the school year is sneaking up on me. What about you? I decided a few years ago that giving gift cards to my kids teachers was the way I wanted to go in the gift giving direction. Some people were like, really? To me it makes sense, at the beginning of the year they might need supplies, at Christmas a little something for themselves, and at the end of the year they can replenish their class room supplies or save it for themselves. I like that I’m giving them an option to choose how they want to spend their money. Gift card giving can be a little boring so I’m sharing 9 Creative Ways to give Gift Cards that teachers will love.

Monogram Tulip Wreath

by leanneja on April 13, 2016 · 1 comment

in Crafts, Decorating, Plants and Flowers

I can’t remember when was the last time I had a wreath on my front door. It’s been that long! My front porch has been lacking in welcoming guests since January. It was about time I made a new wreath and spruced up the front porch a bit. A little front porch with nothing on it and a plain white door doesn’t scream welcome to my home. I’ll share the porch in another post by I wanted to share this Monogram Tulip Wreath in this post. I love how Springy it is but it would also look great left out all Summer long. That is, if I don’t get around to making a new wreath before then.
