After a full Summer of throwing towels on the ground, lawn chairs, and outdoor tables I wanted to make a towel rack for this Summer. Yes, I realize Summer is almost over but we have at least another 6-8 weeks of swimming where I live so I still wanted one for this year. I was on my way to the hardware store for the supplies when I took a quick stop at Home Goods and found a small clothes rack on clearance for $7. I couldn’t make it for that price so I took the easy way out and made a few simple changes to turn the clothes rack into a Pool Towel Rack.

Vintage Look School Mantel

by leanneja on August 14, 2015 · 3 comments

in Decorating, Mantels

The kids are going back to school in a week so I thought I’d decorate the house a little to help celebrate their return. Actually I’ll take any excuse to decorate the mantel again. You’ll never be able to accuse me of having a boring or un-decorated mantel. It’s one of my favorite things to change with the seasons, holidays or special events. I didn’t purchase anything for the School Mantel, I just grabbed things from around the house that were school related.

Feather Art

by leanneja on August 12, 2015 · 0 comments

in Crafts, Decorating, DIY, Fall

As much as I love blogs and pinterest I still love looking through home decor magazines. They’re full of pretty pictures and great ideas and I’m able to get so much inspiration from them. Sometimes I get inspiration from the most unusual pictures though. I was looking through a magazine a few months ago and saw an ad for appliances or windows or something else, I’m not sure but the thing that caught my eye was a display of feathers. The picture had these very large feathers displayed on a block of wood. I knew I wanted to make some Feather Art similar to the picture so this is my interpretation of the piece in the magazine.

Macrame Wall Hanging

by leanneja on August 10, 2015 · 0 comments

in Crafts, Decorating, DIY

I told you I was addicted when I made my last wall hanging. I thought I’d change things up a bit for my side of the room and make a Macrame Wall Hanging this time. Oh, this brought back so many memories. I used to love macrame but hadn’t made anything using it for at least 30 years. I think the last thing I made was a hanging plant holder. I had a macrame owl when we were first married and now I wish I still had it! One of my favorite things about macrame is it’s inexpensive and you can make it cover a whole wall if you like. It makes a great focal point. I made mine long instead of wide because of the space I wanted to fill.

Key Lime Banana Smoothie

by leanneja on August 9, 2015 · 0 comments

in Recipes

Funny thing: since the Minions have come to be I can’t say banana without saying it like a minion. I even sing it at times. It’s weird I know, but my kids join in too so it’s all good. And then they tell me to stop because I take it too far. Anyway, I love bananas and I love key lime so this Key Lime Banana Smoothie was meant to be. This isn’t a super healthy smoothie but it’s not too bad either, so drink up and enjoy.

Yarn Wall Hanging

by leanneja on August 6, 2015 · 2 comments

in Crafts, Decorating, DIY, Fabric Crafts

I have so many wonderful memories of playing with yarn when I was in Junior High. I made pom-poms, tassels, wall hangings, hanging plant holders, I was even taught how to knit a scarf from my grandma. Isn’t it funny how everything comes back in style? What was once trendy, is trendy again. I made a Yarn Wall Hanging for my bedroom and now I’m hooked all over again. This one is super simple and I love how it turned out.

Rustic Wood Arrow

in Bedroom, Crafts, Decorating, DIY

We’ve lived in our rental 2 years now and I’m finally getting the boys room the way they want it. Please tell me I’m not the only one who works at a snails pace. I will be sharing more of their room later but I wanted to share a really quick and easy, on trend project right now. Arrows have been trendy for a while and my boys have had them in their room for a couple years but I wanted to add one more. This Rustic Wood Arrow is the perfect touch to their wall and it is so easy to make.

July Posts Round Up

by leanneja on August 3, 2015 · 0 comments

in Monthly Highlights

Whoa! Where did July go? This Summer is zooming by and because I’m trying to soak it up and spend as much time with my kids as possible I don’t have as many posts to share this month. The amount of posts in August is going to look very similar. I’ve decided to make the blog a bit more casual while the kids are home but don’t worry the projects will be coming fast and furious in September. Here are the July Posts Round Up. I hope you can find something you like and something to inspire you to create or organize your home. Don’t forget to print out the free printables too.

DIY Fruit Decor

by leanneja on July 31, 2015 · 0 comments

in Crafts, Decorating, DIY, Fabric Crafts, Paper Crafts

I am participating in an Instagram swap and the theme this month is fruit. It got me thinking about all the awesome DIY Fruit Decor I have been seeing on blogs and Pinterest. There are some beautiful manufactured pieces as well but I wanted to focus on the DIY projects this time. I’m sure a lot of you are like me and if you can make it yourself you will. Most of these projects are very simple and there are even some printables included, so all you have to do is print them out and pop them in a frame. Instant art and decor is always welcome in my home.
