New Mantel Scape

First, please excuse my pictures. I still had a sick little boy again today, so they were taken late at night when I should have already been in bed. I took out my Easter totes in hopes of decorating the mantel for Easter, but it didn’t quite turn out that way. I was going in that direction in the beginning, but nothing seemed to be working for me. Then I remembered an old window I had in the basement and tried it out. I liked it and then started grabbing things I had throughout the house to see if they’d work with it.

Apparently I was going for an “all one color” scheme. I just didn’t realize it yet. The tall candle sticks and white bird were already on the mantel. I was at least able to add in some eggs to represent Easter.

The sign had been upstairs in the Loft area. It was the right size and the color was right too. So there you go.

The scrolly candle stick was from a table in the living room and the little weather vane was from upstairs.

I really love the color and texture of all the pieces together.

Not very Easter-y, but I really like it. I might try to add something later, like a little wreath over the window and maybe an Easter bunting hanging from the mantel.

Note: I added this wreath about a week later for balance and to help incoorporate the window into the rest of the mantel decor. I think it helps and I like it so it’s staying for a while.

Don’t worry, there are Easter items throughout the rest of the room. I’ll show those later. What do you think? The best part is, I didn’t have to spend a dime.

This turned out very cute! I love that you used things you already had on time. Always a plus! I have such a hard time decorating my mantle. You’ve inspired me!

I love everything except the window. It does not seem to be integrated into the “whole” and just looks stuck there.

I am a big fan of the “all one color” scheme.

I found your blog through New Friend Friday and just wanted to say Hi. I love the monochromatic look of the mantle grouping and especially that you grouped things that you already had in your house. Very creative! Thanks for sharing! =)

I was going to say that ~ isn’t it great to shop from your own house?! Sometimes things look so different in another spot and it doesn’t cost you anything. Love the sign and that cute little weather vane.

I love the old window! We have one in our basement that I have been itching to use somewhere. It looks great! Found you through A Soft Place to Land.

I am here via Kimba’s blog, Soft Place to Land. I love the wreath you added to create balance and how it overlaps the old window. Beautiful.
