Master Bedroom Christmas Decor

I’m doing really well in my efforts with not buying much this year in the way of  Christmas decorations. Our master bedroom is decorated with items we’ve had for years. I love the red and green traditional colors in the main rooms of my home, but I like my bedroom to be feel more calming and cozy. I want to walk into my room and be able to relax, so it mostly has a sparkly woodsy feel to it. Like when you’re walking in the woods, the sun is shining and the snow is glistening. Oh, so beautiful! Anyway, that’s how my room makes me feel.

All the ornaments have a gold tone to them. And it makes a great night light once it’s dark. It sits on my side table.

This is the ornament that started me collecting ornaments every year for my children. My parents bought this first ornament for me after they were married. I thought it would be such a fun tradition to start with my own family. It’s 37 years old.

This little bird is the only thing I bought new in my room this year. $2 at Wal-Mart. Isn’t she pretty?

I’ll probably leave all of this up through January. I just like the way it makes the room feel.

I read the Fablehaven series to my daughters. Even though they’re just coming into their teens, they both absolutely loved, loved, loved the stories! I don’t think I’ve read a more creative author than Brandon Mull, the author or this series. There are four books in the series, and we’re very impatiently waiting for the next, and final installment next summer.

I LOVE your little birdie ornament. I have a bird tree in my Family room. Now I need to go out and brave Wal-Mart. 😉 Visiting from Rhoda’s. 🙂

Well, I don’t have a favorite that I read with my kids…yet. They are still pretty young. I treasure the time we spend together each night reading though. My two oldest boys, ages 6 & 4 each choose a couple books for me to read and my youngest, age 18 mo, curls up on my lap and listens (for a few minutes). It’s my favorite time of the day.

Hi Leanne, thanks for emailing me. I’d love to enter as that looks like such a fun book.

We have many favorites, I think it changes by the day but right now Gingerbread Mouse by Katy Bratun is my 3 year old’s. I read it four times today. My all time is probably The Littlest Angel by Charles Tazewell for the sentiment behind it. Mr. Willowby’s Christmas Tree by Robert Barry is also a favorite from my childhood and one my kindergarten class really enjoyed.

You have a lovely home and got such nice pictures of your tree all lit up. I’m having a lot of trouble with that, mine always end up blurry and I think I’ve read every tutorial that online trying to fix it. I really like your dresser with the natural elements you incorporated. Your bedroom looks very tranquil; and the shades of greens you’ve used and pillows are lovely.

I love the ornament collecting idea. My sister paints ornaments for my kids every year, and I’ve given each one an ornament nearly every year as well.

    Love the decor ideas!

I don’t read much to my children anymore because they are older (youngest is 11) and they prefer to read on their own, but my when my daughter was younger, I read Olivia by Ian Falconer to her almost daily. My daycare girl loves Pinkalicious.

Love your bedroom decor. We usually read “The Christmas Story” a book my daughter got in Sunday School. Looking forward to reading it with grandchildren.

    Hello,

Your bedroom Christmas decorations are lovely. I especially like the birch-wood candleholder pillars.

Thank you for sharing and have a GRAND weekend.
