I received some products from Elmer’s last week and thought it was about time I got busy using some of them. I’ll have a giveaway next week so 2 of you can get these products to create with also. I’ll have more projects using these items leading up to the giveaway, so stay tuned.
I’ve been trying to use items I already have in my craft supplies, so sometimes I feel a little limited. But it’s also nice to have the challenge to create from things I already have. I found this awesome bat silhouette on The Graphics Fairy then printed it out.
I cut out the bat silhouette then used it as a template. I traced around it with the X-acto knife while cutting through the foam board. I couldn’t cut all the way through the board on the initial cut so went around it one more time to cut all the way through.
They turned out pretty good considering I haven’t used an X-acto knife for years.
Obviously I needed black bats, so I spray painted them on both sides but didn’t worry too much about the edges. Spray paint works beautifully on foam board and it only takes one light coat to cover it.
I attached the ribbon-ish string to the bats by using a pin and sticking it through the center of the foam board. Those are little beads on the ribbon. It’s really pretty.
Then I hung the bats from the wreath by tying them around the top of the wreath. I’ve had this fall leaf wreath for years.
I tied a black ribbon around the top and that’s it.
I always finish my mantel first and my door last when decorating for a holiday. I need to make of goal of getting my door done sooner for the next holiday.
And here it is from the inside because when you have a glass door it has to look good from both sides. And there you have another “free to me ” decorating project.
Start thinking about what you can make with these supplies because the giveaway will be coming up next week.
