If you read my blog you know it’s been a rough week. There’s still so much we need to do to get our daughter back to where she needs to be. Thank you for your prayers and support for our family during this time. It’s been felt by us and greatly appreciated.
I’ve discovered that I can’t just sit around being sad and feeling sorry for our situation. Working on a small project or being creative is just the outlet I need to relieve some of this stress. So yesterday I decided to make a tray for our front porch. I started with a 11″x14″ frame I spray painted Watermelon by Krylon. I love this color (and it makes me happy). It’s the same color I used for the little lamp on my desk.
I found the center of the 11″ sides of the frame and measured to drill the holes for the handles. The handles are 3″ so I just marked the spots with a sharpie and drilled throught the frame. I had a block of wood under the frame incase I drilled all the way through (which I did). Actually it’s best to drill all the way through, so just have a block of wood under your project.
Then I just screwed the handles onto the frame the same as I would a cabinet door. I bought the handles at Wal-Mart for about $2.50. It’s the only purchase I had to make for this project.
I’ve had this fabric for about a year. I loved it and knew I would eventually use it some where and it was perfect for this project. It’sSwell by Urban Chicks for Moda. I simply sandwiched the fabric between the glass and the back of the frame then put it back together. It’s easy to change the fabric if I grow tired of it too.
Now we can have something to drink on our front porch without having to worry about the drinks spilling because the table is a little uneven.
This is what the kids were doing in the window right above the table as I was taking pictures. Hmmm!
The colors on the porch are green and yellow but I love this splash of bright pink. Obviously I’ve added pink flowers too. I have one more thing to make for the porch then I can show the whole thing. The weather still hasn’t been great here but I’m hoping we’ll be spending more evenings on the porch very soon.
Have a Beautiful Weekend!
Thank you again for all your kinds words and prayers and for taking the time to think of our family.

This is very cute! We did something similar on our blog. The only difference is that the person making it didn’t use the hardware so she could tuck it away easier. I think this is such an adorable unique idea! I hope everything is getting better for you!
