Decorating the Cabinets for Halloween

I’m not sure I’m ready to deck my whole house out for Halloween but I was so ready to decorate the tops of my kitchen cabinets. I decided to stick with a black and white theme, so I gathered some of my black and white Halloween decorations to decide what to use.

Since I’m not going to buy anything for Halloween this year (except candy) I decided to use what I already had on the cabinets and just add to it.

Since it’s like a tray on the top of my cabinets, I used bowls turned upside down to add height to the smaller items.

Here are the cabinets now as we go around the kitchen from left to right. I simply added a skull, grave stone, pumpkin, skeleton, spider and crows on top of the dessert plates. All of these items are from previous years and most of them are from the dollar store. The crow on the left has sticky tack on his feet to secure him to the cabinet.

These cabinets are to the right of the kitchen window. I added a candelabra, skull and skeleton mirror to this area. The candelbra was from Michaels?, the skull from my secret clearance center and the skeleton mirror from Target.

The cabinet over the stove has 3 pumpkins, a crow and a candelabra. I don’t remember where the 3 pumpkins came from. The crow was from the dollar store and the candelabra was from Wal-Mart a few years ago.

On the cabinet over the refridgerator, there’s a bowl full of skeleton pieces from the dollar store and a magnetic board from Hobby Lobby painted with chalkboard paint.

I’m happy I stuck with the black and white theme. I really like how it came together. The best part was it didn’t cost one cent, just a little time and imagination.

What do you think? Do you like the black and white or do you prefer orange and black? Since I used most of my black and white on the cabinets, the rest of my house is going to have a lot of orange (unless I paint everything white). Hmmmmm!

Very spooky and awesome! Love Halloween. Are you going to dress up? I can’t decide what to be…

I love the black and white and I especially love the crows–gotta get me some of those!

I’ve never decorated my cabinet tops for halloween. Just for christmas. Great idea. Like the black and white.

This looks lovely. (I never thought I’d use the word “lovely” to describe Halloween decor.) Black and orange is great when going traditional, but there’s something so sophisticated and elegantly eerie about a black and white scheme.

I prefer orange and black, but I like your use of the black and white. It is very elegant. I wouldn’t mind doing black and white in one room.

Very festive! I really like it!

You have a great eye for deco’r, color combos, scale, texture etc etc! But one thing just doesn’t sit right with me on this. Why do Christian’s want something to look spooky, why “accessories” with skulls etc? To each, their own. I just personally don’t get it. Maybe at some point you’d like to share, if not, please don’t feel like I’m asking you for an explanation. Just letting you know, even with the yucky (in my opinion) content, you still manage to fit together great color, scale and texture! *smiles*

great idea!! I love all your halloween decor! I have those sparkly chandeliers too, and they are perfect!!
p.s. I featured you on my blog a few weeks ago. Feel free to grab a featured button. Love all your fun organizing ideas!

What a great idea to use the pieces you already had up there, Leanne! I know what pain it can be to take it all down, decorate, then put it all back up. It looks great and I think you’re all set for Halloween. I’m still trying to get into my Fall stuff!

Looks great! I’m decluttering and having a garage sale tomorrow, after that I’m decorating for fall and Halloween!

I love it! I have cabinets VERY similar to yours (just different color) and I think I might copy you! Thanks for sharing! I love lurking on your blog

I love the black & white. The risers add even more style, IMHO.
I think I might take a trip to DollarTree, add some black spray paint and give this a whirl!
Thanks for the inspiration!

I love the simplicity of the black and white.

Love this! The tops of my cabinets are crammed with colorful tins, mostly reproductions of vintage classics and I adore their color, but your black and white display is really sparking my imagination. So cool, crisp and totally NOT what I have now. Gonna have to try it! Thanks!

DEfinitely love the black and white. You’re a lucky duck to have space above your cabs to decorate. I have a lovely bulkhead *rolling eyes*.

Glad you could Mi4M!

LOVE it! I need to get my Halloween stuff out.

I love the black and white! I really wanna do that, but it doesn’t go with the color scheme for our Halloween party…oh well! At least I get to enjoy yours!

Simple but provides a big impact but not overwhelming. Perfect. Great job!
